NSW Historic rego scheme

For those of you in NSW & if have or are considering the Historic 60 log book scheme, here's some food for thought.
This a facebook post of a Sydney base car club.
Hi hillbillys,
Just a heads up and reminder, as one of our members was booked by highway patrol last night on H plates for being modified, over $600 dollars and a tow home. If the car is as it came from factory with options for that model it’s ok to be on h plates, as soon as you put anything on aftermarket, alloy wheels, engine mods, etc, Then it has to move over to the modified scheme, D plate green and white plate modified or classic scheme as they call it. It will require blue slip first year then pink slip every year after. Car can then be further modified to the point of requiring engineer certificate at this stage we need to show engineer papers to stay on D plate.

Period accessories are OK for historic rego in NSW.
Things like alloy wheels that are the same size as the originals are OK, as are things like alloy rocker covers, driving lights, sway bars and things like that.
It's when you start changing any original supspension, brake, steering or chassis part from what was available for that model series that the problems begin.
There are too many modified vehicles that have been put on historic rego because the definition of "original" and "period accessories" was left to the club's discretion. The RMS recognised that there was problem, that is partly why we got the modified scheme.
They also warned that after the 18 month grace period they be actively checking any vehicle on historic plates that looked modified.
A Torana club in NSW was checked, out of 70 cars inspected, 70 were modified and illegally on historic plates.

Old is good.

It ain't that to switch over either, the that is an LH with what appears to be 15x10's on massive dual exhaust where the fuel tank would be, so it'll have a fuel cell in the boot & clearly setup for drag racing.
This particular club preach the gospel but don't lead by example.

2 separate comments on people doing it badly. It seems like a great scheme but cowboys could ruin it and it could end up scrapped if problems continue:(

Just yesterday I put the Monaro on club reg. I, for a long time, didn't do it as I thought the scheme would be shut down due to those people who stretch and break the rules. On Sunday at the Goulburn swap meet, there was a well known car parts company with his display of car parts that they sell. The tow vehicle, a big ute towing a huge trailer, was on club rego. Now, he was carrying on a business selling. I didn't think that a vehicle on club rego you could be used commercially for business. Am I wrong?
I put the Monaro on club rego because last year the car only did 29 kilometres for the whole of the year. This year so far it hasn't left the garage. Just had too much on.

The fact he was at a swapmeet, most a sanction event, he's probably OK using the ute like providing he ain't using the ute as his daily work vehicle.

On club rego you can't use your vehicle for a commercial purpose or gain.
It specifically states that you cannot use a club rego vehicle for wedding or school formal hire. It also says you can do weddings and formals if you are not being paid.
So, towing a trailer full of parts from your business to sell at a swap meet would be a commercial venture, so it would technically be outside the law.

Old is good.

How on earth did he get that on club rego
Only a Mexican I guess lol
My HJ Prem is on Qld club rego and I wouldn’t of gone more than a thousand keys last year, I know the crap I went through when I first went through club rego 10 years ago, standed on outside and inside, beaks are HQ racing from Rare Spare but with the TPI Chev and Th700 was a bit tricky, when they saw I had NEW engine mounts and a reseat saying HQ 350 Chev
They passed it
BUT went through the whole car

I know with Qld club and especially mine
We have a registered book every meet and you must sign it and what car you drove there weather it’s a club car or not,
You must bring your car at least to 3 meets per year to be aloud club rego through the club,
That’s ether club meets, car show meets or Gazzeted club runs,
We also have a safety check day at a local garage once a year, over the pits and on the host, there’s nothing in it just a safety check and BBQ cost is $20 for the day
Gazzeted runs are every Wednesday,Saturday,Sunday
There’s a meeting place and a sign on book, This is sometimes a “Mistory Runs”
And then your monthly meeting on top of that.
Your car must meet the club committee approvel
So no blowers hanging out of bonnet or 10-12”Tyers out the back

Is not to Be confused with normal rego, in NSW all vehicles older than 5 years must undertake yearly safety inspections, we call this a "pink slip" & get to H plates for log book scheme your car must a safety ticket, we have two schemes for log book rego, H plates are for standard cars & we also have the Classic or D plate scheme & this is for modified or custom cars both schemes work the same way as you get up to 60 day's use not including club runs.
The main difference with the classic is that some cars will require an up to date engineers report to qualify for the scheme & this what that Torana should have & appears that it has mods on that an engineer would say to.
