WB Statesman

I am looking to pull the dash out of my WB because of an air-conditioning part has packed it in. Is it easy to pull apart the dash and put it back together again. Most important where can I obtain a workshop manual for the WB in detail.

Its not too hard. I've pulled every dash out of every car i've ever owned, and I've always managed to get it back together. The manuals are never that good for the dash area. The most important part is to put everything back the way you found it. If you've got a digital or polaroid camera, take photos of sections before you pull them apart. And label stuff if you think you'll forget where they go. If you leave your email, I'll send you some air-con diagrams that one of the other members here sent me.

If you still want a manual, the gregory's one can be found at most spare parts shops or Big W.

Good luck, Steve.'

Steve,

I recently replaced a faulty air con switch on my WB statesman and can figure out where the hoses are meant to go.

Does the air-con diagram you have show where the hoses go on the back of the aircon/heater switch?

HOLDEN The Great Way to Move

Like others I want a diagram/picture of the connection of the vaccuum hoses on the back of the Heater/aircon switch and possibly a complete vaccuum hosing diagram to Where those hoses go on the 3 or 4 vacuum controlled diaphrams and the heater hose switch(the WB vaccuuum switch for the heater hoses in the engine bay is definately open for flow with no vaccuum and closed to flow with vaccuum). Now the Wb statesman doesnt get any fresh air down the Plenum chambers, they are both blocked off from the factory, where does it get fresh air from ?
The supplement Manual, for WB statesmans is full of the extras needed for the de-ville and Caprice options , but doesnt mention the heater function at all ! apart from how the switch is bolted to the dash !
Volume 5 of the HQ manuals has only the earlier HQ-HZ type arrangement which is totally useless for the in cab part of the WB statesman, which has no similarity to the earlier types. It appears that Holden never put out any service data on the WB Heater/air-con arrangement in the De-ville or Caprice,

any help will be appreciated

Hi Guys.

I have a copy of where the hoses go on the vacuum switch. If somebody could send me their e-mail address I will send it to them & you could post it on the oldholden website. Mine is bebco1 at optusnet.com.au.

This is not correct, sure the RH vent is blocked with a plate, but the LH one has a duct that feeds the A/Cond fan directly & allows either a fresh or recirc air intake.

End of an Era

The WB still has the air inlet on the left side of the plenum, only the driver's side is blocked off.

If you send me an E-mail, I can send you a HVAC vacuum diagram that I got from Dr Terry many moons ago.

EDIT: Sorry for the repeat...I posted this before Dr Terry's post above was approved by a Moderator.

Dr Terry, how did you go with E-mailing Rusty to sort out your login problem? I didn't receive an E-mail from you (>Click here to E-mail me) so I assume you contacted Rusty directly?

Cheers...Dave

Hi Qute/Dr Terry,

I am reading an old forum on "oldholden.com" where you have said you have a diagram for a WB heater ducting. I believe it is for a statesman. Do you have a diagram for a WB ute (I believe they are different) and if so could you please please, please send it to me. I am about to install air con and need all of my ducting to be good but I have cold air coming through my dash (with everything supposedly closed) it appears to be coming from the passenger side (there is what feels like a loose butterfly type valve up and under behind the glove box) also the vent switches don’t seem to be opening/closing as they should. It would be fantastic if I could get a diagram before I rip my dash apart.

Hoping you can help
Jools
