You are here

possibly for sale in coming months

I have a 1974 HQ holden station wagon that has been sitting in a garage for a number of years. My mother has now passed away and the car needs to be moved, ie sold.

Problem is, what is a 1974 HQ wagon worth these days. The body is straight with very little, if any rust. A new engine has been fitted and has done less than 2500 km.

Truth of the matter is the car has not been started in years, Without any pics, what is the car worth any ideas?

regards

John

I'd love to buy it. But realistically, it would depend on price, location, condition etc, etc.. But that's why you're here.
Price? From your vague description, anything from 2-8grand? More if it's in good nick. Need more info, is it a Premier, 6 cyl or V8, what's the interior like? Sitting for years, it probably needs brakes, clutch done, etc etc. The motor may be reco, but the car may have 1,000,000 miles on it..
Sounds like a bewdy anyway, good luck.

Tim's right. Paint? restored or original ? miles? interior? so many question marks. Post a few pics and more details, the guys on this form should be able to give you a fair idea of price.
HQ's are a hot item at the moment and good rust free original low mileage cars are hard to find. Even modified ones will pull good money if they are clean cars.
Take the time, do your research, post some pics, you will find a ready buyer.
Very good original HQ kingswoods that tick all the boxes should be looking at 18K +. Factory V8's even more
just my opinion though

sorry to hear about your mother John, the HQ value is all that is mentioned above as well as location if over west, I have noticed they are not holding as much value for east buyers. All the best with the sale, some pics would be great also.

with Rusty's help i got my old user name - think- The kingy is a 202 that has been bored out to a 208 and has a yella terra head on it, running on unleaded petrol, running through a trimatic gear box.

I have owned the car since 1976- wow a long time- currently not registered. Body wise the car is good, has factory bucket seats and considering the car is over 45 years old it it is good nic.

Currently the car is covered in inches of dust in sydney

thanks guys for your remarks
