Question for you all about NSW emission regs of the early eights were they different to the rest of the country? I got told I was wrong at just commodores so I wont ask there again. Was it the case or are they correct and emission laws all ways were uniform across the country? I cant ask the bloke that told me this years ago as hes long dead. What I remember is early commodores sold in NSW had more emission controls than those sold in Victoria was that the case or have I thought this up and got the story wrong and have confused what ADR27c means? I ask as in the next couple of weeks I want to get an ole VH thats been in a shed for the last 25 years back on the road when me and my friend where 19 we put extractors and a holley on it now his father wants to drive it. I thought it had more pollution gear on it than any Victorian car Id seen.
Did 3.3 VH commodores have the air pump?

As emission standards were Federal issue and gradually imposed on car manufacturers I guess they were standard across the country but having said that I too have heard that NSW was quicker to respond and therefor may well have had all the gear from the get go on vehicles produced in NSW where as other states may have stuck with the bare minimum. It was the 70's after all and as they say if you can remember them then you weren't there lol.

This code appears on many Commodore Holden and Camira vehicles. Therefore it must be true, GMH do not put codes on tags unless they are required.

Some combinations of drive line were also not available in NSW, and this has caused some problems with people buying cars interstate these days. I did hear of a fellow that purchased a 6 cylinder 4 speed (not sure what size or gearbox) from Victoria a few years ago and when he went to rego in NSW they refused it.

You are correct though what I remember was more specific to the 4s & 6s where in some years the tests were based on different specs - in some instances some Commodores & falcons had restrictions on manual transmissions yet they could be sold in other states

Yes you are correct, factory shop manual and probably even the Gregory's manual for those models will show a different vacuum hose diagram for NSW cars because of it. No air pump though, those were on VK only afaik.

Just found this in holdenpaedia , http://holdenpaedia.... , added by ReaperHR back in the day , clearly shows that V7Y was a specific NSW option code.
