308 head bolt torque

Hi guys,

Just after some info, i have surfed the web today and couldn't find the answer i was looking for. I have a blown head gasket on my 308 red motor. i just need the correct torque specs and sequence for the head bolts. If anyone can help i would be very grateful

should have sequence and specs on the gasket packet.

if not, general rule of thumb is tighten the middle bolts first then spiral outwards.

with a red, if the 2 bolts closest to the inlet manifold are present (many have broken threads years ago and not used - later motors do not have these bolts or threads at all) these get tightened only to the first torque step.

step 1 - 40ft/lb
step 2 - 59ft/lb
step 3 - 75ft/lb

It would be wise to mention the lesser tension required on the 4 inner bolts in the valley
