red ignition dash lights

my car seems to not have the ignition lights come on in the dash but it still starts.
what could cause this? it seems intemitant.

The lights on the dash are not "ignition" lights. One is for the generator, one is for the oil pressure & the last one is for high temperature warning. All 3 have their power supplied directly from the ignition switch, which is why the first 2 come on when you switch the ignition on.

The easiest test would be to earth out the dark blue wire which runs to the oil pressure & switch the ignition on. If the globe lights up, you simply have a failed oil pressure switch. If it doesn't light up, you either have a blown globe or a wiring issue.

You can carry out the same test by earthing out the brown wire at the generator regulator.

On some models there is a Dash Light Fuse.

This fuse has been known to make poor contact.

The fuse for the dash indicator lights wasn't introduced until HK.
