Ryco make an inline filter that will fit in the fuel line just before the pump. Get some new rubber fuel line while you at it. I think it's 5/16".
They are about $6.00. I got mine from Autobarn.
Supercheap have cheap ones that will cost more than the good Ryco one,
Anyone know the Ryco part number?

pros it will help reduce the likelihood of the carby being fouled by foreign particles in the fuel - not unusual for an older fuel system..Cons - they didn't originally have them (just the filter mesh in the pump) so if you want a totally original look it would need to be concealed..I've got one on my HR - between the pump and carby and it does the trick..I took it out and the carby got fouled up and I had to throughly clean it..I put the filter back..
