80837 is a Monaro GTS ,
Paint Code 567-11425 is Daytona Bronze Metallic ,
Trim Code 18X is Sandalwood & Black Vinyl ,
It is a V8 Monaro , but not sure how to tell if it was a 307...[http://gallery.oldho...|My Shed]

Byron Rich over at fastlane (oldholden.com.au) knows a bit about this...

as far as I know the early HT GTS Monaros came out with 307s early on, basically using up the leftover stocks from the HK... than they shifted to the 308... so there aren't a huge number of them around...

also, almost all of the 307s had Powerglides behind 'em... only a handful had Saginaw 4-speeds...

but if you head over to fastlane and track down Byron, he should be able to tell you what to look for... there are some giveaway signs I believe, but don't know what they are...

Cheers

Paul D.

Correct about early HTs being fitted with 307s, try giving Warren Turnbull an email - warren_turnbull@hotm... and asking him. He is a wealth of knowledge and should be able to give you some tips on identification

I think the speedo hole on the firewall is one way to well if its originally a Chev engine car. The hole is situated in the middle of the firewall for the cable to cross over to the left side of the box.

I think the codes will only identify if it was a V8 Monaro but not the actual engine size like the plates do on the later models? There may be other tell tale signs to look for re chev vs Holden engine..but capacity? I'm thinking the sure way is the original purchase invoice or build sheet...

Andrew

The V8 speedo hole tells you it either had a V8 Saginaw or a V8 Powerglide. It could have been a 253,307 or 308.
