QR - represents a 253 HC engine fitted to HQ through to late HZ. The 529399 is the serial number. There is a date code sep stamped on the engine block top front this link provides info on how to determine the engine date...https://www.uniqueca...

I'm thinking it may be a 74 engine so not original? On another forum someone with a HQ 12/73 claims to have the original engine number of QR457418...so your engine comes after that.. .I'm presuming the engines were made a month or two before the car..so perhaps 74...be interested to know what the date stamp reveals if you can post it....

Tks Andrew , your spot on , its not the original engine , i knew that.. I had established from the ID plates thai it was 6 cylinder Kingswood ute when it was born ,,, but interested to know the date of the 253 ... Once again, although the date of the engine is exactly that , it still wont clarify when the engine was put in ( Of course ) ....I,ll search for the date stamp if i can find it !!! Thanks for the input , very much appreciated !!
