Air Chief Radio for EJ

We have recently purchased a EJ holden, that is totally originally its been stuck in a garage since the 1980s. Anyway wanting to put the original radio back in the car. We can not seem to find anywhere the exact specs of the radio it would came out with. The car is a sedan special.. Anyone can help with specs or better still pics or wish to sell one let us know...

Thanks

There are two choices for EJ/EH. In dash or portable. The in dash was a full transistor radio, manual or push button like this:

Or as radios were very expensive Holden offered a portable radio, commonly referred to a picnic radio.

The Picnic radios normally command a higher price.

It is quite probable that your car never had a radio originally fitted. They were only an option back then.
Any radio with a chromed face that matches the profile of the dash would be OK as it was made for the EJ/EH.
If your car has a steel plate in the centre of the dash where the radio goes it probably never had one.
An original radio would only be for decoration today, as they were AM only. Good luck finding an AM station.
If you want the radio for entertainment, can I suggest bluetooth spearker streaming from your phone.

still plenty of AM stations exist, often quite good ones and AM travels a lot further than FM so sometimes all you can get out bush...

Can I suggest one of these units from eBay. Period styling with modern features. I am thinking of one for myself.
