HQ 308 air filter.

A mate has 650 Holley double pumper on his 308 HQ one tonner.
It has an aftermarket chrome air filter on it that fits under the bonnet.
The filter is five years old and the it is rusty because of the crap chrome plating on it.
Can anyone suggest a good brand of filter that won't rust? He lives near the sea so the is salt in the air.
I suggested getting the filter he has now rechromed. I thought good triple plating might be a better long term solution.
Any ideas?
David

My K&N is stainless steel. It came highly polished and looks like chrome. I too live by the sea and don't have a problem. It is also reusable. Worth every cent. Cheers

Stainless is the go as Quick has said. All chrome is triple plated, the process is nickel, copper than chrome.

Truely I doubt you’d get a chrome one these days that won’t rust. Theyre pretty much all made in China, or the so-called better brands in Taiwan. I’ve had Edelbrock ones that have begun to rust after 12 months, admitingly on a car that is not garaged, so condensation is apparent under the bonnet

Thanks everyone.
I think the stainless steel K&N would be the go. I'll let him know.
