186 stromberg on a 202

Hi all!
I have recently bought a HK 186 with a powerglide, that I have swapped a HX 202 into, as the 186 needs a rebuild(smokey). I had to use the 186 1 5/32 stromberg, as the 186 manifold has the pivot for the throttle valve rod. I have got it on the road, runs ok but has a flat spot on acceleration. Is ok once you get it up over 60km/h. So what am wondering, is the 1 5/32 Stromberg on the 202 too small? Jet sizes look to the same on a 202 carb(1 7/32) as a 186. Does the carb just need a freshen up with kit? I didn't get to drive it on the road prior to the engine swap, so I don't know how it went previously.

TIA

don't know if it's any help but looking at my HX repair manual it specifies a slightly larger venturi diameter 1.22 inch and the main jet as 330cc - not sure how that equates to yours but a 186 HR carb has a 28-30 main jet..I'd give the carby a good clean and put a kit through it...that's probably all it needs to eliminate the flat spot...

the early hq's ran the 5/32 so its not a problem. you may simply need a cleanout and a kit through it, or could just be you need to check the accelerator pump is working - and try the outer hole for the pump link adjustment.

sometimes too the hand over the top during/after a rev will clear minor blockages too.

the flat spot is usually caused because the plungers worn and not squirting the fuel in
get hold of a good leather plunger not the cheap plastic rubber plunger
soak it in motor oil for about 15 mins this helps it slip in to the carb without it folding back
