202 black motor build

Hello all i need help i want to build a 202 black motor efi. I am doing away with the distributor and going crank angle sensor ,getting a stage three yella terra alloy head compleat roller rocker package. I getting a set of spool conrods and forged flat top pistons. I have a manafold from aussie speed shop for eaton 90 blower and fuel injection. I want to achieve over 500 hp at wheels. Any help to add this with more knowledge to get me over that mark.

It would be easier and cheaper to put a v8 in your HQ to achieve those figures than with a 6. 500hp at the wheels is a big number. What do you intend to do with the car? It would be a real pig on the street with that 6 cylinder. Even with a v8 it would be impressive with 500hp at the wheels. Good luck. Please keep us up to date with your progress and final figures.

Wow big numbers for a 6cly,
A V8 yea would be cheaper like a LS1 lot of stock running gear just cam,head work and exhaust should get you close
And maybe a turbo would get up there and could still be used for a street car

I want to do a 6 because v8s are done to death. Not that i dont love them. I plan on club rego for occasional drive on road with the blower can i do that in qld. Or do i have to turbo to do that. I need some help with cam selection.

I’m thinking a turbo 6 would be easier then a supercharged for rego for a “car club rego”
There I a couple of members in my club in CAIRNS with turbo 6 and went through Qld transport and club rego no worries
But 500hp wow yea no

Whoever told you that 500rwhp was achievable was pissing in your pocket. As. Rule of thumb you probably lose 1/3 of hp through your drivetrain. That means you are looking at building a 750hp Holden six. Not likely but I like to be proven wrong.

Very well then I stand corrected even though it was grout filled with darton sleeves from the states and went through numerous blocks in the process. Go for it mate. Not my money.

A friend of mine years ago had a six coil set up on his blown FC. He used an old distributor as the trigger for each coil. You use a distributor cap with spark plug style terminals on it cause you can unscrew them and attach your wires to fire each coil. He also used 6 x gt40 coils (the small electronic type) and ran plug leads straight from each coil to the plug. It worked well and that was probably 25 years ago now.

I started doing that but would like to use the cas and cam sensor .
to get sequential injection vr commodore ecu. Im trying to get some economy out of the 202 im only using the efi cam.
the l67 which comes with the eaton m90 blower makes around 170 kw in the commodore cant see it making 500 horses. why 500 anyways its just a number.

but i'm not blessed with a history of 500hp weapons or forced induction so can't offer anything usefull other than whatever it costs to get 500, spend that again on containment coz all those horsies might want to escape when you've got them all excited, lol.

You're talking about 3 or more HP per cubic inch, while possible it will not be in anyway streetable. You're talking about an all out race engine for a dedicated race car.

You should probably consult your engine builder about your goals so he can lead you on the right path. It sounds like you have already done a bit of research into it. Please post progress pics of the build. I think we all would be interested.

Barra turbo would be the go.
Better motor to start with and it would be solid enough to make big power for a lot less money than getting similar power from a red six.
But, I like my red sixes.

Old is good.

I think the biggest issue you would have in a Holden 6 with that level of horsepower is trying to avoid splitting the block in half. Unless you put a huge supercharger on it (I seriously doubt whether an Eaton 90 would go close to producing the required boost), a turbo would probably be the only option, and it would have to run a very high level of boost. Given that Youtube example you posted had a grouted block to keep it together, and that it ran on Methanol, suggests actually driving it on the street would be highly unlikely. At least for any decent period of time before it overheats. But as Quick64 suggests, I'd be chasing up an engine builder who specialises building turbo Holden 6's and consult with them. They would be the experts.

Top end of a "streetable " Holden 6 normally aspirated is 300hp . Top end of a "streetable " Holden forced induction 6 is 400- 450hp . how are you going to make 600-700 engine hp and still be streetable ? . {Pic attached . A "race" tuned , Phil Irving headed , intercooled , turbocharged , fuel injected Holden six probably making a not quite streetable 500- 525 at the engine !?

Here are some pics of my old Holden 6. It was a 235 stroker with alloy 12 port head and Magee fuel injection that I modified to electronic. It was fun but it had reached its limit of around 300hp. That's why I sold it to finance the v8 build cause I knew I could get more and be a little more reliable. The money I spent on it I could have built a few v8's that could make 500hp. Lesson learnt. My first stroker sprayed no.5 out the side. The extractors saved the engine bay from the shrapnel.

yea i know were your coming from there Quick 64,
I had a 186-192 with a 161 head and triple su's with a TQ20 cam with elec ignition in my HR ute back in the day lol. IT used to do around 300hp. as it was balanced an blueprinted, portet and polished with a M20, I worked out what it cost me to get it BUILT, I could of got one of those "midnight special combo" 350 chev and TH350 cheaper with the same horsepower..........
lesson learnt hey lol

The secret to big horsepower from a blower, is a BIG blower.
I don't reckon the eaton 90 is where you want to be.

The bigger you go with a blower the less it needs to spin to produce power, so doesn't get as hot as a small blower that you need to spin the guts out of, so will run much more efficiently.
If you go big enough, you almost don't need an intercooler to make huge power efficiently.

Anyway, that should keep you entertained for a while

I've always wanted one but i'm not allowed to have bits poking through the bonnet ..always wanted a tuff 265 hemi too and it doen't poke through the bonnet.
My alloy head big block 186s is going to suprise a few v8's

It doesn't have to poke through the bonnnet. There are other options other than roots type blowers. Like Paxton, Procharger, Sprintex to name a few. Centrifugal blower style. Sprintex is a whipple style.

They muddle the early 70's period feel i'm aiming for .. Ol' mate Pete was almost crying when i painted the alloy head to hide it, as sexy as it looked, i thought the alloy head muddles the period feel too.

I made the same mistake by painting the alloy head on my six when I had it. I haven't painted them on the v8 though. And yes I like them through the bonnnet too.
