A 320km/h speedo, and 10 000 rpm tachometer - in an HR?

What are you going to do with the other 70% of the gauge surface that never see the needles - cover 'em with baby photos?

HK'ing.

What are you going to do with the other 70% of critical posts on here, that are far grittier than mine - cover 'em with baby photos?

HK'ing.

P.S. I think both you will be fine, just as HRMark is :-)

Surely you have to be kidding Michael?

See, this is where you come across as a Knob, I assume you do have one of those, but why you need it when it doesn't see it's full potential and only use it to p from seems pointless, just in the hope you may get to use it again one day.

I like what you have done, HRMARK!

Utilising the original spaces for modern and more than likely heaps more accurate guages.

While I do like the original dials, I can't see the point in paying big bucks for old guages that won't give you an accurate reading.

Horses for courses, from memory, I recall that your car has a bit more grunt than standard, so it is fitting that you have guages which can cope with the current enviroment.

I'm not entirely sure about the white faces, maybe the pic doesn't do them justice, but it does get annoying when the first response you get, bags the crap out of your work, just because it's not original and to everyone's taste.

Unless you hug a tree every morning, and drive a standard vehicle, then HKing seems to decide your not very gifted in the brains departmentand it goes without saying that your knuckles drag along the ground because you obviously like to drive faster than he can process thoughts.

That response is typical of HKing when something is not to his liking, if I'm being too harsh on him, I'm sure someone will let me know ;)

I like the idea of new gauges placed into old cluster....so much so I'm in the process of doing exactly the same thing so I can use the late model speed and tacho readings from the LS1 ecu. BUT....I'm not sold on the actual gauges in question. The ones I have are old style looking VDO gauges which only go to 7000rpm and 200kph. They have plain black backgrounds and no massive writing or buttons or shift lights.

I think the idea is right, just not sold on the actual gauges but that is purely my taste. If HRMARK likes his look then that's great.

I like HRMARK's car. Tough as nails IMHFO.

Maybe Michael was just being controversial :P

VDO ?? Still stuck in the 80's?

These guys make a very nice set of instruments http://stewartwarner...

Their website is [Naughty Pottyword], but google Stewart Warner Instruments in images, and you'll find a lot more of their instruments. Very well built, and VERY subtle at night. Unlike Autometer, where the lighting is blinding and the blue high beam light drills a [Naughty Pottyword]ing hole through your head.

Stick that VDO junk on ebay and install a quality set of instruments.....

By the way, neat fit up HRMARK.

Nah, nothing wrong with VDO gauges dude.
These are modern made and integrate well into the Torana cluster and match the look of the dash while providing accurate modern electronic instruments. They'll suit me nicely thanks :)

You're all mixed up, mate. Despite, you being literate and endowed with a brain, you've fired up and posted more scattergun blather. Again.

I did not comment on any aspect of taste.
I did not comment on replacing factory parts with new parts.
I did not comment on anything related to 'hugging a tree'.
I didn't question Mark's intelligence, car or driving.

I simply questioned why he needed a 200 MPH new speedo, and a TEN GRAND tacho in an HR sedan.
Mark has already pointed out "it is fitting that you have guages (sic) which can cope with the current enviroment" (serious drag set-up), and all has been fine since then. I even posted a lighthearted reply. Issue clarified. No problem or disagreement or dispute occurred - until came in, going off half cocked...

I like new, accurate gauges. I've put extra gauges in everyone of my cars. I've also planned replacing the old existing gauges in one of my previous cars, in a very similar manner to Mark. It wasn't a car set up for dragging, so I wouldn't have selected guages that went 2 or 3 times past the realistic usage of my car.

(The topic of placing them OUTSIDE is in a quite different thread, started nearly 2wks ago. Have you confused these separate threads, Bruno?)

HK'ing.

Why put a 200km/h and a 10,000 RPM tacho in an HR sedan?

Simple answer cos he can!!!

What have you got on the rest of your speedo past the 45mph mark, Michael?
