A warning.

The RMS are checking cars on historic rego in NSW clubs for compliance.
My mate was telling me today the club I used to be in got a letter about a torana club that was checked.
The RMS checked 70 cars in the club on historic rego and defected 40 of them for modifications.
Now that we have the modified classic scheme in NSW people with illegal modified cars must do the right thing and switch their cars from the historic scheme to the modified scheme or a lot of damage could be done to both the historic and modified schemes in NSW.

That’s odd you should bring that up, I went out to my Mothers place in the Central West of NSW last weekend. I did a service on her S model valiant that is on club rego (and was due for renewal). She was complaining that this year the club has stipulated that a pinkslip was required. She was complaining that she hasn’t needed it in previous years but the club heirachy were worried (according to my Mum, “about losing their houses due to legalities)

I know blokes in Qld that ignore and flaunt the rules by driving when and where ever they please, including drive to work every day, bet they bitch about it if it changes up that way.

You are allowed to drive within a 12km radius of your home where ever and whenever you please which may include driving to work if you live in that zone. To go further a field you must be attending a club meeting or having repairs done. So I am led to believe.

According to this extract from Qld rules you cannot use your car for every day use at all , so going to work is a no no , and can only drive on road within 15klm radius if road testing after repairs ( you can go any reasonable distance to effect repairs ). The cost saving does not in any way compensate for loss of liberty in my book. :-Conditions and restrictions
You and anyone driving your special interest vehicle must only use the vehicle for:
• participating in rallies organised by incorporated vehicle clubs or events sanctioned by the Australia Street Rod Federation (ASRF). Note: a rally is a social event whereby a parade of special interest vehicles travel together for competition or to meet at an agreed location. Rallies are usually listed in a incorporated club newsletter or on the incorporated club’s website or social media page.
• participating in processions for which a Special Events Permit has been issued under the Transport Operations (Road Use Management –Accreditation and Other Provisions) Regulation 2015
• exhibiting the vehicle in displays, fetes or similar functions conducted for religious, charitable or educational purposes
• ceremonial purposes (such as weddings, formals, funerals) involving immediate and de facto family members, or as part of a sanctioned incorporated club event, provided this is not done for fee or reward. Immediate and de facto family means parents, grandparents, sons, daughters, grandchildren, adopted children and adopted grandchildren, but not extended family members such as aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces
• preparing for, proceeding to, and returning from the above activities
• direct travel to and from an approved inspection station to get a safety certificate or certificate of inspection before offering the vehicle for sale
• travel in order to have the vehicle repaired. There is no distance restriction, however such travel must be reasonable and justifiable by the vehicle operator
• road testing within a 15km radius from the place where the vehicle is garaged or is being repaired. The purpose of the travel must be to road test the vehicle following repair or restoration, or for general vehicle maintenance and not for any other purpose. This does not include use as an everyday means of transport. A passenger may travel in your vehicle to assist with road testing—only if your vehicle can legally carry passengers.

What do they (RMS) consider modified? It seems it’s always been a contentious issue amongst varying clubs as to what’s modified. Some refuse to accept anything that wasn’t factory fitted whilst others have allowed “period” accessories. I wonder what the Torries where pinged for, as there’d be countless SLR inspired/tributes/clones/replicas. I’d hate to think a nice old Holden that had jelly bean mags and extractors on an otherwise stock car got pinged by RMS or worse still a club that they’ve been a member of for years tells them they’re out.

Yes MistaKen your right BUT,
your allowed to do the 15k from your residence address, and use your car on club runs and to and from car shows that are classed as "Gazetted club runs"
NO where dose it say how meaney of these you can have a month and a "Gazetted run" is classed as a "Mystery Run" with no destination, it is determan on the day of point of the meet.
There fore The Far North Qld Restores Car Club has 3 per week. a meet on a Wednesday for a run to the beach for lunch and Saturday and Sunday at different start points.
OF course All public holidays are a club run,
IF I wanted to go to a show in Victoria, and drive my car, All I have to do is to submit a letter stating when i leave, how long im gone and the day of the show, which way im going,(the in land or the coast road) To the club President and committee
I pay $50 for membership for the whole family and around $200 a year for car club rego.and a free 200 point safety check on my car.
AS a FIFO worker I don't see the point of me paying over $1000 dollars for rego when im not home.
Yes im my faver it works for me.
Ive used my car for weddings and proms and submitted a letter to the club. each to there own I gess. there are good points and bad points on car club rego, at the end of the day Shop Around for the best club and there do's and don'ts i gess.
As for the Moderfide part of your car well, lol ,
all cars are Modified aren't they now ?
THEY DONT RUN ON SUPER FUEL, they have been Modified to run on UNLEADED or 98 and now on 85 ?
Yes My HJ Holden is Modified, the 253 that ran on super with no pollution gear was exchanged for a TPI 350 chev that runs on 98 and has all Fuel Injection crap that was from California which has one of the tuffest pollution laws in the world and this is why I Modified my car 18 years ago. The QLD blue plate states the date 10/04/2000
If it comes down to the crunch, it may just mean you have to get a Roadworthy inspection every year for your club rego,
OH that right I get that for free every year, it may just mean i have to pay for the certificate to submit with my club rego papers.

As I always say
Stay safe all
and happy driving, while im at work lol

the organised and sanctioned part , if ya can organise an event every day you get to drive ya ride every day but to restate my point in response Quick64 according to the last dot point of the Qld rules " This does not include everyday transport" you cannot jump in ya ride and go grab a pizza ( unless you have just adjusted ya brakes and wish to test them and the pizza shop is less than 15klms away !! :) or go to work daily even if only a few klms away. Many will flaunt these rules and most will get away with it of course but there are penalties in place if they are caught out. I don't do the Club thing but remember they used to run log books , is this still the case ?

All is good here, blood test on Monday came back with low platelets so have to wait another week for chemo. The oncologist may reduce the chemo amount to stop this. She also says it is normal for this to occur. 60% of her patients are in the same predicament. Otherwise all good. How's your missus travelling? Hope you're family is well. Cheers mate.

Interesting read. In Queensland we can use personalised plates and we don't have rego stickers anymore. Is that the same down your way Al?

Seen on news last week that Qld is running out of standard issue plates , they are introducing new combination, 3 numbers-2 letters-1 number eg 123:AB1 , when that sequence runs out they will move the last number one place left eg 123:A1B and again later one place left again eg 123:1AB , apparently that gives them another 18 million plates to distribute over time , that should cover all the interstate migrants for a while, lol

That's the one thing stopping me from going on club rego, I don't want to give up my personalised plates and being that mine is modified I'd end up with those god awful conditional (tractor) plates.
