Ipswich Electroplaters

Has anyone had and experience from using Ipswich electroplaters? how was the time on getting your things done? and what was the quality like?

Yes today I got my fj radiator infill panel back from them after 8 weeks, after being told 4 times it would be ready Friday, 4 times I got the money out of the bank because its cash only, just to receive a really really bad job back, all the top surface is missing or patchy and the 3 holes at the front have flaking chrome and missing chrome, the rest is coming off them and the back has been plated straight over the paint so its all blistered and the only little part of the back you see is half paint and half chrome, I rang to complain and the owner never even cared, I would have complained when I picked it up but I was served by a kid that looked like he should have been at school. I will stay clear of them in the future.

they seem to get greedier to up the price each time to rediculous
most of the work was ok but some was shocking

6 to 8 weeks is a bit extreme. There is a guy at Narangba, Wizard Chromeplating is ok. I have used him before. Turn around depends on demand, uaually a week or two. Not many electroplaters around anymore that will do quality work in small quantities. Cost depends on the commodities market e.g. Copper price, as they have to copper coat before chroming. If they don't the chrome will peel off. Hence cheaper price. A lot of work goes into Chromeplating that people don't see.

If you mean the mob opposite Riverlink shops, a bloke I know used them and the work was good, time was good and price was good. I used to sell him all the bent bumper sections he would repair re-chrome and sell them off.

Eight weeks and poor quality would suggest you are a little fish in a big ocean. What I mean is that by the sound of it, this plater only wants the big jobs and takes your on as pocket money. He most probably waits until the workload on the biggies are down then, "throws" your job in the tanks.
My chromer/plater here in Sydney, gives me a two week turnaround. I do wait until I get enough stuff to plate/chrome before I go see him. This is an example of his work on plating and chroming.

I know but have heaps I wanted plated, front grill and teeth, bumper, headlight surrounds, hood ornament, all alloy on dash, inner outer door handles, scuff plates, windscreen centre, seat ends plus plus. I was getting it done in pieces to save on a huge cash outlay at once, oh well his loss I guess, ps wish your platter could come up and reteach him, LOL
