Interior carpet and sound deadening

Hey guys.
I’m redoing my interior atm and want to replace the carpet and underlay in the pano. I have replaced the carpet once before and it was a bit of a failure. This time I want to do it properly.
I have read holdenpaedia guide and still have some questions.
So I have pulled out the old carpet and underlay. And I am gonna clean up the floor and then paint. Should I be using a particular type of paint to cover / seal the floor?
Next. What type of underlay should I be using?
And finally loop vs plush? I went plush last time and it has become ( hairy) if that makes sense. This may have just been because I purchased the cheapest I could find. I will use Knox this time
I look forward to your opinions
Thanks in advance

I trust your issue is more for looks than road noise, I've found multiple coats of under seal has made a huge difference to road noise, I was lucky enough to get mine sorted during the rebuild and got in everywhere with the black stick, although etch primed first, top coated then that sticky mess inside and out, then run the standard underfelt and carpet So now - driving over any road surface is quite as. The only drawback is you can clearly hear the whine from the passenger's seat. "Hey 👍Choice Van too"
