HT 307 engine numbers

Does anyone know what range of 307 engine numbers would have gone into the early HT GTS's?

Even a couple of numbers from members cars would help.

I'm restoring and early HT GTS V8 and want to put a 307 back in and would like to get one in the right range.

Have found a good one on Gumtree but it may be too ealry.

I think the KTG range engine numbers all started with their displacement.

307 engine numbers started with 30740000. Mine is 30744438 which is from the Dandeong plant I believe and faily late in the production run. It is not correct for my car but I am not too concerned.

Have now found out the engine numbers are relevant to where the vehicle was built.

Engine number prefixes:
Bris 30700001 - 30709999
Syd 30710000 - 30739999
Melb 30740000 -30773999
Adel 30774000 –30789999

Based on this I need a block somewhere in the 30710000-30739999 range as mine is a Sydney car. Just need to narrow it down a bit futher!!

Finished the XU-1, now for the Monaro!

30744438 is before mine 30745xxx in Dec 68 built car so wouldn't be a late production run

There should be a casting date on the side of the block ,mine has 29-m-7...29 dec 1967 and the engine number should have 307 then the plant number,K for McKinnon industry (canada) then the assembly date ,mine has 0201, 2nd of Jan. this is true as far as i know......cheers

Thanks 307kingy, that fits in nicely with the HT GTS body number 492-H5 with an engine number of 30717866 that sold by Aussie Muscle Cars recently.

My body number is 585-H5, so I'm not to far after that one.

My engine number is 307181## and is a July 69 built HT (235-H5) out of Sydney so it fits in with your date range. It seems GMH fitted 307s not necessarily in engine number order, given mine is a later engine number but an earlier built body.

They probably just grabbed the next one out of the store and not necessarily the next one in number order.

That actually makes it easier to find a suitable block!

The hunt is on!
