Hi I’m trying to find out what my factory paint colour is as it was painted another colour before I bought it.
The tag paint code is 567-10972.
From what I can find the 567 means it’s a metallic colour. Can’t find anywhere what colour 10972 is.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hey mate thanks for your
Hey mate thanks for your reply. I’ve looked through there a couple of times and can’t find it. Unless I’m blind. I can’t imagine they offered a custom paint option would they?
paint
look around under the pinch weld on the doors ,boot etc most times there will be a trace of over spray of the original colour or if they didn't remove it to paint the old colour will be under it or somewhere else

You may have to ring a Holden Dealer like I did to see if the Paint Code Number has changed on there computer to an updated code.I know mine did, my wagon is Grecian White the code changed from 585-9562 to 1J016/9562,try that and see how ya go mate!...
Cheers Al....

Paint
I think it’s been painted in the past as a person remembers the car being silver in the past although I can’t find any silver on the car. It was painted as a bare shell, possibly sand blasted. I did find a bit of bronze/brown paint on a bolt on panel so I can’t confirm it’s original to the car. I’ll look around a bit further to see if I can find anything else. Thanks
new Paint
If you take your paint code to a spray painter or a paint suppler he will be able to tell you if its the right code on his system. All paint codes now have colour charts on panel shop and paint suppler system.
Im an Grit/Sand Blaster and Industry painter on a gas pipeline, We have this for our paint code to match.
There may be an app on line that does this ? Im not sure,
MAYBE some one like REPCO or Auto Barn who mix auto spray can touch up paint should have the system ?

previous info
here http://oldholden.com... were you able to check black book or provide the trim code as one poster requested? can you take a photo and post a pic of the plate?
Andrew
Paint code
Yes post the trim code line this may help.
Black book paint code
The Black book has no corresponding code...
Try posting the trim code as suggested.
New paint
Thanks for all the info. Next time I go down to work on the car I’ll get the trim code. I’ll also try a paint supplier. It’s been off the road for such a long time with the last 3 owners i haven’t been able to get too many reliable answers from the guy I bought it from. He knew nothing about cars, just liked the HT so he’s been no help as far as the cars history goes. I’m trying to get hold of the previous owners too.
Silly Q
but it's not 10927 instead of 10972 is it?
Andrew
Black book paint code
If anyone is interested in selling a holdens black book I could be interested. I’ve looked around and they seem to be out of print.
Holden black book
HTskids,
Try contacting http://www.justholde...
They had some stock of the Holden Black Book remaining when I was there around Christmas (Dec 2017)
Black Book
Its out of print and no one has any in stock, Just Holdens are taking deposits and the supplier is taking expressions of interest.
Holden black book
Thanks for the tip. I just called them and they ran out of stock at Christmas time. I emailed the guy(Warren?) who published the book and he can’t give an answer as to if or when it’ll be available.
Trim code
Ok I found the piece of paper with the trim code on it. It’s 1181-10M.
Really appreciate the help guys.
10972
Definitely 10972. I’ve checked it at least 5 times as I thought the same haha. The plate is original and unaltered. Rivets are as old as the plate and looks like it was left on when the car was painted.
1181 corresponds to Egyptian
1181 corresponds to Egyptian Bronze on an OH thread? and 10M is Black Brocade for seats and door cards...https://www.tradeuni...
Andrew
10972
How were the plates made? Was it a fairly manual process? For instance someone loaded the stamp with the last numbers back to front? Perhaps the operator had a big Sunday and it’s a Monday car.........
Brougham paint
I agree with dirdsme, 1181 is the internal Holden code for Egyptian Gold, paint code 11906.
Now if it was 1180, 1182 or 1186 it would be a colour that did not make it into production.
The machine is like a typewriter so I am not sure how they have it so wrong.
So the next step is to find is the 1181 wrong, need the rest of the numbers now.
Can you post a pic of the tag or at least put the other numbers up.
Brougham paint
1181 is correct. I’ve double checked. 1181-10M
Paint Codes
Ive had a look through my collection, and I cant find this code. I would say that it could be that it was a special order colour. I have pictures of LOTS of special order colours, but I havent catalogied the codes on the images yet.

Special order colour
Do you have a special order colour that’s grey by any chance? Or maybe silver?
Paint codes
I’ll try looking for a colour on the car again. Thanks for helping out. It’s a bit of a mystery.
It was a Sydney built car H5. First registered in February 1970 so I’m guessing it’s a 1969 which would line up if it was Egyptian bronze as I think that was 1969 only?
What other numbers are you after?
Mystery colour
Also the VIN and chassis number would be helpfull.
It might also be on a HK tag

Paint codes
I tried an online paint site and they didn’t have any listing for 10972 either. Will try a holden dealer tomorrow if I get time.
The plot thickens
I’ve contacted a few paint suppliers and a Holden dealer here in Auckland NZ
(Yes i’m A sheep shagger). Paint suppliers didn’t have a listing but Holden had the paint colour in 1970 as grey. Is there a chance this is a govt or diplomatic car? Or some sort of special order?
any other options like air
any other options like air con, electric windows, bucket seats...these may support something special order...as many Broughams didn't have these...possibly a company car...
Andrew
Options
It has electric windows, bucket seats with a small centre console, no fold down arm rest. No air con but it has an engine swap to a newer QT code 308. Think that’s an HQ-HJ engine? The heater box is still there.
Had a vinyl roof. Has a banjo diff if that makes a difference.
Another odd thing about it is it has holes for an aerial on the drivers side A pillar, possibly an aftermarket aerial or CB radio? Someone put fibreglass guards on so can’t say if it also had an aerial on there too.

Kia ora Bro
It may have been a Government car ? with the areal on the drivers side ????? police car maybe ?

Primer colour
Did these cars get painted a pinkish red primer? I suppose it depends on the top coat colour. Inside on the roof skin it’s mainly that colour but on the b pillar there’s some gold overspray. It’s starting to look like it might be gold. There’s some on the inside where the door skin should be I managed to track down the previous owner today and he said it might’ve been gold and a government car. So was it sent here in grey primer, painted govt gold when it got here???
hmmm interesting ....sounds
hmmm interesting ....sounds like it's gravitating back to the Egyptian Bronze which is Gold...the electric windows is also interesting..that does kinda suggest it was/had some kind of official capacity if a government car...when you said grey I waas thinking maybe a funeral car...also they did have a silver type colour in those...my mate had a HK Brougham in the 80s that was sort of silver/gold if you could imagine that...he seems to think it was silver mink but I don't think it was ...it was different...it was a nice colour with black vinyl roof and black interior...no electric windows or A/C front bench seat..307 power glide with P/S...he basically gave it away in the mid 90s and now forever cursing himself...I'm presuming in NZ that gov cars at the time had different plates...so if you can find out the original rego that would support the theory for instance in Aus Federal gov cars at the time had a red Z for the first letter on their plates..SA gov reserved the 3 letter Q etc...you can get from 3rd party sources and also from Holden the original details of the car...but I don't know how far back or reliable the information is...I'm thinking if it was a special order and painted a special colour it would have come from the factory that way...it seems special fleet/gov colour schemes etc was not unusual for the time and the factories seemed to make to order...if originally with air con those models had an under dash system so maybe look for any mounting holes etc...
Andrew
Govt plates
I know in later years govt cars had special plates. A mate of mine in Australia called in to an old panel beater who has old paint code books. He found a grey paint with the code 10872 so one digit out. He said it’s a fleet vehicle colour. Fleet vehicle luxury car?? Maybe it arrived here grey and it was painted gold/bronze years later. It’s potentially on it’s 4th paint colour that I know of, not the unmolested car I would like to have. The car has power steering too. Air con wasn’t all that popular on cars over here compared to Australia back then. I can’t think of anyone I know with an old Holden or ford that has air con. We don’t get regular 30+ degree days over here. So it had the giant heater box in the engine bay and a separate air con unit mounted in the centre on the bottom of the dash?
yes that model had the large
yes that model had the large centre under dash system as an option. I don't think many cars actually had it though. Most old cars don't have A/C over here either (at least not when built). The late 70s Statesmans had it as standard.....other than that not a lot of cars had it..and those dreaded A6 GM compressors don't last too long before needing big $$$$ thrown at them...so most cars of the era that did have A/C don't have cold A/C.....prior to early 70s most cars didn't even have heaters...
