I'll have a go, others may correct me if I'm wrong in parts.

Model HT 81469 - this is the model code for a Brougham
Body 029383M - M on end means Melbourne built (29383rd Brougham built at Melbourne?)
Trim 1177-18M - Brocade cloth yes
Paint 567-10975 - Phoenician Turqouise metallic (567 is dulux code for metallic)
Top - Vinyl roof may have been added later by dealer or maybe it is part of the trim code?
Firewall- HT 28468M - 28468th HT from Melbourne
Long plate/Small tag- 81469TJ204690 - 81469 =Brougham, T =HT, J2 =Melbourne plant, 04690 =Sequence number (I think number goes back to zero when 100k is reached so yours would be 104690th vehicle built at Melbourne since 1/1/68)

Tags aren't that straight forward to decode, this is the best I can manage from reading articles in just holdens magazine and various websites. Some are easier to decode than others. Someone should really write a book on Holden codes 1948 to 1978 or something, I mean that just took me half an hour! Leroy in oldholden sheds has a bit of trim and colour info with photos.
Anyway hope this helps.

Hi thanks heaps for taking the time for me that's great, it's good to get some history on my car I didn't know so many were built wonder how many are left? I had a look at Leroys stuff too.
Cheers

Anytime for a fellow SRV fan! (I'm building up an SRV "number 1" replica Strat at the moment)
As for how many were built it's fairly amazing considering that there seems to be so few good ones left.
HK total production was: 199,039
HT: 183,402
HG: 155,787
That's well over half a million cars.

Is that 183402 Broughams or just HTs? It's that strat going to have the SRV lettering and scratches etc on it?
Cheers

183402 is all HTs. Don't know where you would find numbers on individual models but I would guess Brougham numbers being relatively small maybe 10-30 thousand per year? Holdenpaedia and uniquecarsandparts.com.au has plenty of info. As for the Strat I'll probably go with the lettering and stickers, but I'm sticking to a "new" finish. I like my guitars to age naturally , besides the body I've bought for it is just too nice to go hitting it with a belt sander/chisel.

Total Brougham numbers across HK-T-G is around 7000 according to sales data from the period, as a comparison Fairlane numbers were approx 41000.

Only Elizabeth and Pagewood Body numbers were according to the model, Acacia Ridge and Dandenong body numbers were the total production up to that point.

Hell, Ford really was flogging them in the luxury market.

I'd say Body 029383M is the production number in the HT series overall. Kingswoods, Belmonts, everything.
If the vinyl roof was factory fitted it's probable that there's only primer and undercoat beneath it.

From what I've read elsewhere the' TOP' slot on the big tag was more often than not blank even with a factory fitted vinyl roof.

Grammar: The difference between "knowing your shyte" and "knowing you're shyte".

Ah thanks for that I didn't think this roof was done after the car was built

Brougham's came standard with the Black "island" style vinyl roof, or with light saddle tan as an option, or alternatively the vinyl could be a delete option with a body coloured painted roof.

On every Brougham tag I have ever seen the "TOP" code was blank. This code might be more relevant where the top was PAINTED a different colour to to the body, as some Prem's and Kinga's were.

Have just checked my own 3 Brougham's and the "TOP" code on all 3 tags is blank, despite two of them having a black roof and one having the light saddle tan.

Thanks heaps for that
Cheers

Hey Rob,

My cars are stored outta Melbourne to the North - towards Whittlesea - but its only about 35 mins from Melbourne CBD. A catch up would still be good, will be in touch Monday.

so the body number on my plate is 000371M, does that mean the car was the 371 built .
