T5 to Red 202 Clearance Issue

G'day folks,
So I was after a Supra gearbox for my HZ ute (red 202) and was told by a reputable bloke that there weren't any decent ones around and that I should get a T5 instead. After doing some research, that sounded like a good idea. Good box, still made, heaps of parts, etc...
So, I get it shipped down and find out that it won't clear the cross bracing. Has anyone else had this issue?

But he's full of [Naughty Pottyword] about the supra gearbox .. it's better than the steel case celica box i use in my often abused HX daily/tow car.

For clarification, he sells new and reconditioned boxes and he said that they had been having trouble finding decent enough ones to reco and resell. He has them on his site, but said that at the moment he wasn't sure when he'd have any.

I don't think that was his intention. It sounds like the kit they use to sell was pretty comprehensive.

The supra gearbox is a very common swap, the young fellow that use to work for me still has his HK ute with one in and swears by them.
My godfather is in "variety club bash" runs a Hemi 6 with a super box that he fitted 2 yers ago become of the abuse they can handle and there still heps of spears around. The reason he went that was was that a few others did the same.
My dads last apprentices, runs one in his HQ 202 stroke 6 and is a regular drive car, not everyday.
iVE HERD them behind V8 253, i think i red a fellow member on hear had that set up in a ute . The reason why he would say he having trouble getting them is there popular and no one is getting rid of there's i guess

The Supra box isn't the issue. I know that has been a very common and reliable swap for years (which is why I was looking to get one in the first place), the issue I have is that I bought a T5 and it won't fit.

t5 is a cheap set up there is different supra boxs an T5 set ups etc ,being a blurbomb head l will leave this discussion here with a pic .

Are you using the Ford 6 T5? The Commodore ones are longer in the extension housing. Speak to whoever made/makes your conversion bellhousing, ie Dellow or CRS. You'll probably find some cutting will be necessary regardless.

From the casting number on the tail housing, it looks like an early 90's Mustang setup. Old mate is taking the box back to re-engineer the housing so it will fit and I won't have to do any cutting. I should have researched it a bit more but I have not found much info about having to cut the floor for this box to fit. I guess most conversions have been to V8s.
