Tramp Rods Fitted!

Model:

Gday
Finally pulled my finger out today and put some tramp rods on the HT.
Mine was a factory auto so it did not have them. Was a pretty simple job and they work very well! Since i dropped in the stroker the axle tramp was shocking... Not anymore!

Comments

I thought tramp rods were illegal but maybe it was only the bodgey ones I had, that looks like a pretty neat setup you've got there, totally different to what I had. Mine bolted under the springs and were a long bar that went forward.

The tramp rods that bolt onto the spring pad and lever off the spring to stop spring wind up aren't legal. But these ones, or the style like was used on the XYGTs are no problems. I like these stealthy ones, as they don't hang below the springs. Once the wheel is on, you'd never know their there.
Very nice.

They are loosely based on the factory radius rods. Do the same job as the old style tramp rods but are legal. I have a set of genuine ones on the shed wall. Can't put them on my Monaro as wider than normal wheels foul them.

Do you have both bushes fitted on the bracket that attaches to the body? or is it just the photo? because it looks like you have too much thread protruding at the back end.
Cheers.

that set up looks god mate hope they do the job for you. Reminds me years ago a mate had the under the leaf type on his car, out cruisin', as young blokes do,"hey whats that noise?" "dunno mate" checked it out and yep a dead cat was hanging/dragging on one of the tramp rods,----classic gold. LOL at least I didn't draw the short straw to get rid of it, "aint my car mate you better do it" hahaha

FJ 53.. Copy away. If you want more pics leave your email here and ill send you some.
KKKman.. Both bushes are fitted. I remade the thredded part cause the old threads were flogged badly. I made it a bit longer than the original. Probably should cut it down a bit.
SickHG.. The bracket that bolts onto the body was bought on ebay as a repro part, the rest is off a HK 327 that went to rust heaven years ago.
