These come up on ebay all the time. Just take a note of the last 3 digits of the part number of your old unit and ensure the one you get is the same unit. These usually go for no more than $50 with a key.
Check out this guy. If its not listed contact him as he usually has one or more available

That would mean every time someones key batt went flat they would need to replace the BCM? don't think so, most good lock smiths have the ability to cut keys and program remotes, you tried one of those? I haven't done a vr but I have had keys on a vs done at a Holden dealer, only had one key and went swimming with it in my pocket, yeah i know...but i had a new one programed, just need the car for an hour or so.

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

I've recently changed one of these, but the motor was out at the time. The Ecotec uses a flat Alloy Housing bolted to the back of the block. The seal sits in that housing. The seal can be changed independantly of the housing, but my housing was corroded away, (they have a water jacket against them) so I bought the complete housing, gasket, bolts and seal which cost around $140 from memory. So either motor out or gearbox out I'm afraid. I don't have a picture on me. The good thing is the sump does not have to come off. But check and make sure that is where your leak is. Maybe degrease the motor first and drive it and confirm the source of the leak before going too far.
Good luck
Cheers
LMH

Ecotec V6 Conversion Suspended. Keeping it original!

We had a special tool for these when replacing them. It was always done as a pair, the seal and the plate, if you look closely it's probably the plate that's leaking.
The special tool was a machined steel sleeve that slid over the crank and between the plate, this would give the correct clearance around the crank for the seal.
The second part of the tool was a flat machined plate that bolted into the rear sump bolts and would perfectly align the machined surface of the alloy plate with the machined surface of the engine block for which the sump would mate to.
