HR Special 186 auto pricing query?

Hi All,
First post on this site, I own a HR, I would be really interested in getting an idea of a potental price range for the car. I have no recent experiance with pricing.

The car is pretty much original condition and have had it garaged for the last decade, owned it from 1996, my father now wants the space back in his shed. Car is in fairly good condition, only major repairs required are potentially the front suspension needs repair, and a new floor pan on the drivers side front. the car is garaged in Northen NSW, but i currently reside in ACT. im currently making plans to head up, grab some recent pictures and advertise it for sale.

I have three crappy photos attached of how it is currently, until i can get up to move it out, i can't show better shots.

further
1-should i transport it back to the ACT, or sell where it is?
2- would repairing the bits i think need repair going to help get a better price?

cheers

James

Gooday mate welcome to the oldholden site, I am not the person to answer your questions, but if it was mine I would take it back to ACT where I lived and keep it for another day. Once sold = gone forever. Looks to be quite reasonable condition in those pics also. I am selling my sons car as I also need my shed space back LOL Good luck with it all mate.

Welcome to OH James..
Looking at the 'crappy photos', it could be a $5,000+/- car. Is it original paint? If not, I'd be worried about what's under it (as a buyer). Original interior is always a plus (for me anyway).
If I was selling it, I wouldn't bother fixing stuff. I think you'd be wasting your time and money, some people like to do stuff themselves, or fix stuff their own way. Unless the work led to a roadworthy, then it may be worth doing.
I'd be interrested in more pics (to look at, not to buy).

Looking at the mudflap on the front, is that overspray? As a buyer, I'd get worried seeing overspray.

Post it on ebay, set the reserve you are happy with. If you dont get it, well it should be worth the hassle in moving it long term. Lindsay is right though, once gone, thats it

I recently had the same dilemma 18 months ago. It was either sell it and move on or throw some money at it and get it going properly again(It didn't need much work though).
Because my HT was one of my first cars and there was a lot of emotion attached - including it being one of my first cars and also my first car with my wife of 18yrs and almost all of my kids came home from hospital in it, many memories of family road trips and surf trips with mates when i was single, I decided to keep it.
No Regrets!
I think if there is an emotional history with it you will absolutely regret it. (How many of us hear the comment "I had a holden like that, I should never have sold it")

If its just a car you picked up somewhere put it up for sale with a reserve you're happy with.
Hope this helps,
Alby

Hey all, thanks for the feedback, all three bits of advice are great, Alby, I didn't think I was nostalgic, but then you got me to thinking, so I pulled out an old album to see if I could find any photos... Man, the fun came flooding back. I have attached 2 of the day I bought it, one camping, and one the day I left Brisbane for a road trip to Port Douglas for work... Happy Days!
I just noticed on the recent photo I was sent, that my rear badges have been removed... I also owned 2 HR's for parts, but Dad sold them under my nose, I bet he let some prick badge my car... as they don't just fall off in a shed! Grrrr James

Andrew

Thanks for all the feedback, it has been useful, if not making me think a little more and therefore a tougher decision. Here are some old photos.
