fuel pump help

hey,
is there a trick to fitting a glass bowl fuel pump to a 186?
I tried 3 times and still get a dribble of oil from the bottom.
run out of gaskets now.
using some loctite gasket sealer.
no leaks when I took it off.
pretty sure its coming from the join, not the little hole.

You need to seal the mounting bolts because the camshaft throws hot oil into the threads.

Thread tape works too.

VB - VK fuel pump bolts sold new with blue sealant on them to prevent the problem ...

try putting two gaskets on it the face warps
i had mine machined no more leaks
also check the two plugs are either side of the pin
if theses are missing oil will leak oit and eventually the pin will drop out

I found these to have a thin mounting flange that would flex if you flexed the pump body. I found it hard to stop these leaking, if at all.

The original AC pump didn't have the problem.
The Carter pump didn't have the problem either.

its an AC so not the Goss.
I will try two gaskets. an maybe some of that formagasket stuff in the tube instead of the normal gasket sealer.
the thread sealer i used seems to be working because its definately not comeing out from them.

is it an old pump or overhauled pump? if so, the oil may be coming from the breather holes at the b
ase of the pump as a result of the fulcrum lever seal leaking too, which is quite a common problem across many carbie fed fuel systems.
