faulty blinkers/parkers front only

hi I have an EH, when I put either indicator on they both flash (front only)and sometimes both the indicators in the dash will flash, also when I turn the parkers on both the indicator lights will come on in dash ,the only thing ive done to try and fix this problem was to change the wiring and light fittings in the front. Has anyone had a simular problem and what was done to solve the problem ?Any help will be well apreciated

Easiest place to start is earthing of the bulb holders and bulbs all round.
Next stop is flasher unit under dash close to drivers kick panel.

almost 100% an earth fault, pretty much all that ever goes wrong with them check all globe holders are earthed

Definately just a bad earth in the front blinkers..
It is usually just a matter of twisting the bulb housing back and forth in the blinker housing housing for a quick fix.
Most EJ and EH I've seen have lost the rubber boot that goes over the bulb housing so the get wet and dirty and lose the earth.

about a year ago I changed the original 50 year old flasher can in my HR (it stopped working)...with the new one I notice when the indicator cancels - or doesn't fully cancel (sometimes the stalk requires a gentle nudge) both the dash lights flash - but not the indicators themselves...only started after I replaced the original flasher...hasn't bothered me enough yet to investigate further...my initial thinking is that the resistance of the new unit is different and un-masked an existing problem...or created a new one

Andrew

Originally both indicator lights flashing on dash was designed that way, to let you know that one of the globes had blown?

Usually if you had a blown globe - it would flash at a different rate but not both sides...in essence the circuit resistance has changed with a globe blown...thereby altering the circuit current and how quickly or not the bi-metallic switch operated which is thermally proportional to the circuit current....all my globes are working fine..

Jeeeez Andrew! Was a long way of saying all your globes working fine. Long time since had a globe blow, wasn't sure if both flashed prob why I put the ?. Did mean to say lights on dash flash 'faster' What surprises me is in 20yrs and 76k miles, only ever replaced two and they were the original globes. Don't make em like they used to. Cheers Arch.
