Fitting HZ Girlock Calipers on HX Stub Axle

I have a HX chassie with HX control arms, stub axle etc which had the PBR calipers on it. I just got some HZ Alloy Girlock calipers but when i went to put them on they wont fit. If you put the bottom bolt in and try and line up the top bolt it hits the stub axle and you can feel its out by about 4mm or so... I was allywase away all the suspention components on HQ-WB were compatable. Of course HZ WB had RTS but that shouldent effect the stub.

I thought i might have the wrong side caliper so i tryed the other one and it lines up much better but then the hose dose not reach the bracket on the top of the chassie.

Any help would be great because im really stumped with this one.

are you sure the calipers for hz and wb are same,
i have a hz and a wb and the calipers and pads are different.

thus i'm thinking your alloy callipers are wb callipers which would not fit a HX setup

I could be wrong , somebody in OH world may know more

Had exactly the same problem with a hj a couple of weeks ago,the calliper will be hitting the backing plate not the disc trim about 6mm off the bottom edge of the backing plate and it will fit.

The calipers are HZ, WB have the square head hose attached to the middle of the back where as the HZ have a round hose end that screws into the top of the caliper. There are no backing plates/protectors on these stubs so thats not the problem. Where its hitting is in the top of the stub axle just as it curves up to the top ball joint.

the brake hoses are different to the other type of calipers so you need matching brake hoses , but the caliper should mount up fine with out hitting , can you post a picture of what /where its doing it ..

hose mounting ontop of caliper .??? usually hose mounts in middle of caliper....

it sounds like you have a commodore type girlock caliper as the have that type hose fitting..

you have to be careful with these calipers as there are 3 different types and the all look very much the same but have slight differences , there is a uc torana type , hz/wb type and commodore type , yours sound like commodore ones as they dont line up with your mounting holes as the commodore ones have differnt mounting points you can get one bolt to line up but not the other .

No mate there 100% HZ, i ment bottom not top sorry. The hose screws in at the bottom. 1 of the 2 calipers i know 100% was on a HZ becuase i took it off myself so the hoses should be the correct length.

I have uploaded a picture of my calipers so you guys can identify in the event there actually by some chance not HZ

Yea mate its impossible to mount upside down otherwise you wouldent be at the to of the rota, but yes i thought i might have had it wrong (left and right) but as said above i tryed it and the line was too short when i tryed the other one.

If the caliper mounting brackets were removed from the caliper body could they have been put back on the wrong caliper. IE left caliper and right mount. I don't know if its possible but I thought I would mention it.

I always thought the WB were different cos they had 15" rims and that the disc brakes were bigger ?
Well there you go

Ive got the Alloy Girlock on my Hj Prem. They were put on my car back in 2000, with HQ racing break pads and on the rear as well(drum breaks)At the shop that did my break up grade and suspension at the same time as I was doing the TPI 350 chev up grade
Was told they will cool down quicker up in Nth Qld and will stop better cos they have the bigger piston.
And YES they do ha ha
Was thinking of the twin piston breaks they offer at Hopper Stoppers, but you have to use 15" wheels, and I like my 14"hubcaps ha ha
