Tired 186

The 186 in our EH is getting very tired. It rattles and spits oil out the breather cap (small breather instead of PCV as well as breather cap).
Driven hard at something like a lap dash or khanacross or just having a fang it goes all day without a problem.
On the highway at a constant 2800rpm (100-110ks) it will randomly lose power and not want to rev at all, it just maintains it's 2800rpm and no more. Pull over, turn it off, start it and it will take off as if it never had a problem until it plays up again, maybe in 20 minutes, maybe not for a couple of days.
It has blue motor dizzy with a relay, coil and proper plugs, triple 48 Dellortos on a standard fuel pump with a Malpassi regulator set at 2 1/2PSI, YT head.
We had the same problem 12 months ago when it had a Redline fuel pressure regulator, which we replaced with the Malpassi and didn't have any more troulble until a couple of weeks ago.
Anyone got any ideas why it does this?
Maybe I should just put my spare HP 179 together in a hurry.

That thing that's on the dizzy can do that not the radio one ,but usually they will make the car misfire if you have developed hole in a old hose that loses a oil wax coating when hot an dry an is letting in a vacuum possibly ,but if it's getting a bit ordinary it might be blow by backing up as well to.

Life is too brief to build ya own time machine
With out old Aussie products cheers.

Vac advance jamming, bad coil, bad module, sticking floats, fuel starvation, could be a combination of those things or something else entirely. Have you tried different settings on the fuel pressure regulator? Not many will put out the same pressure that they say they do.

It spits a fair bit of oil now so the blow by theory might be the one, but I'll check the advance and other things you mention.
And I'll start putting the HP together.
