RIP Glen Campbell

Topic:
Section:

The Rhinestone Cowboy, Glen Campbell, dies aged 81
ANOTHER legend dies, they say he sold more album's then the Beatles.
And did you know before he was all this, believe it or not, on tour he played bass guitar in the mid 60s for THE BEACH BOYS on tour while Brian Wilson stayed home, writing more music, and suffering a nervous break down.
In an interview, on 60 minutes, a few years ago when he had stage 1 0f Alzheimer's he said, it was the wildest time and he will never forget the screams of the crowd.
WHAT a legend, from surf music to one of the biggest country and western singers in the world.
AND played on Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, and other big names.
R.I.P Glen Campbell

i heard lots today on radio i hadnt known about him. he was a session musician and backing vocalist for many, many big names. frank sinatra, dean martin, beach boys as has been said, the monkees, elvis and the list goes on.

apparently roger miller told him he had to do his own thing, roger helped him start out and he did well, the rest as they say is history.

He was one of my favourites. As mentioned a great sessions muso. He was a great guitarist and played some great instrumentals (check out Classical Gas). I watched a doco recently that showed him touring with his family, over the course of the doco you could see him decline, so I knew it was coming but still sad.

I liked Glen in the original True Grit.

He was knocked flat by the barrel of John Wayne's '92 Winchester, while Wayne called out to Ned Pepper about Kim Darby ,,,

"You do what you want with her Ned. She's nothin' to me."

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

"And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time". Singing along cranked up in the John Deere, miles away from home.

And Try a Little Kindness, Galveston, Rhinestone Cowboy, Where's The Playground Suzie?"

The world has lost another legendary muso. RIP Glen.

"It was then I knew I'd had enough, burned my credit card for fuel
Headed out to where the pavement turns to sand...."
