Radio Pin Code

Curse these modern cars with their silly pin codes! Give me the push button crackly AM radio in the old HZ anyday! Unfortunetly I have disconnected the battery in my wifes VS, and try as I might i cannot find the damn pin code...Holden want to slug me 30 something bucks for typing it into their computer and getting it in about 30 seconds, that makes for a pretty good hourly rate id say. Anyway I was wondering if anyone on here knows an easier way, or even someone at holden maybe?? Thanks in advance,

Most scan tools should be able to retrieve the pin. Alternatively you could try contacting eurovox with the serial number of the radio, or buy a new one.

Won't help you this time, but in 2017 no one is likely to ccovet a 1995 stereo so just write the number in the owners manual or on the stereo somewhere.

I've had our VY and VX radios out of the cradles once or twice, when I did I wrote the code on the back of the radio for future reference. Any chance the last owner may've done the same?

I got stung with a Hyundai like that , so I contacted the local Hyundai wreckers, told him the serial number, and he looked it up and gave me the code. I still owe him a 6-pack. Try your Holden wreckers and see how you go. They have to have the numbers, otherwise all the radios they pull out are useless.

"If your car has quarter vents, a diff at the back, and was available with wind-down windows, you may talk to me.
Otherwise I am not interested. Amen."

the last 4 digits of the VIN number. I seem to remember seeing somewhere that some manufacturers used that for the radio pin. Worth a try.

regards,Rod.

What Holden dealer did you call??
Holden issued a bulletin a while ago and advised not to charge for radio PIN retrieval, but owners were to present proof of ownership and the PIN would be retrieved.
But think of it this way, if you had 5 or 10 blokes a day calling and chasing radio PINs (from other workshops/car yards etc) you'd probably get jack of doing it for nothing too.

Hyundai do not store radio PINs on their database so if you loose/don't have the card usually the radio has to be pulled and the serial no. deciphered to retrieve the PIN can't blame a dealer charging for that one!

are the worst for that pin crap their factory radios are crap but pin protected I have at least 10 here I don't know the numbers to I'm yet to see on the pin filled out on the sales card the only number that matters on the whole card and the dealers don't write it down I sure some of them changed the number away from the last few numbers of the vin they make lots of needless ground fill
