Tacho mounting help

Hi,

I want to mount my tacho on the frame inside the car(i have no idea what its called so here is a picture of a boost gauge mounted in the same place the same way: http://www.streetcom... )but I dont know how to go about it. I take it that you screw the bracket to the frame. Do you pre drill?? What type of screws do you use etc.....

Could someone please give me some pointers.

Help is much appreciated

Cheers
James

Here is another link of how I mean for the mounting:

No you don't. It looks bloody awful. They never sit square, and point up at the roof.

Just predrill a couple of 2mm holes. Mark out the holes with a permy texta through the bracket. The bracket screws from memory should be quite course and will bite in enough to hold it in place.
And remember to wrap the wiring in black tape and then flexi conduit when youre done.

I am a fan, but Hang it off the bottom of the dash or the side of the console, and put the shift light on your steering column...

Umm what type of screws do they use? I got mine second hand off a mate and it came with one small screw that looks like a roofing screw.

Good on ya Grandpa you gave the country away

In the old days they were called self tapping screws.

They were pointed and of a high tensile strength.

The local hardware should have some, we used to use about 1/8 inch / 2.5mm diameter.

You can also buy some which are phillips head and have a drill tip which you can screw in using a phillips bit in a drill.

(preferably a battery drill because you might just brake the windscreen with an electric drill)
