O.E. 6 cyl Exhaust headers???

Hi Folks

Can anyone tell me if there was any difference between the XU2 and XU1 6 cylinder O.E. exhaust headers??.... Does one type flow better than the other etc... I'd like to get an original set and are they available or are they rocking horse poop? How much could I expect to pay for a set etc?...
Thanks for your feedback...

XU2? I always thought the XU2 was the V8 XU1 that never made it into production.
Am I wrong?

I think you mean X2... I didnt think there was any difference?? They come up from time to time in the trader posts etc.. I would think around the $100. - $150. mark would be right have a good look at them and make sure the surfaces are not warped etc..

From memory (which aint that good), the rear header outlet on HRs pointed down. The Torana rear header outlet was angled back.

Cheers, Jeff.

'bout the same I'd reckon, depending on how high the speed humps are at your local shops. :)

Cheers, Jeff.

My memory agrees with yours Jeff. That means we're either both right or both wrong... :-)

The XU-2 was the original designation for the SLR5000 but was actually used in production on a Bedford.

Thanks for your feedback gents... My ignorance is obviously showing. Hence my sign on name 'punter'...I know what to look for now... By the way, I've heard that the O.E. headers flow very well...?... Do they both work about as well as each other or is one considered better than the other? Thanks again:)

The standard HOLDEN head is the restriction. Sure the headers flow better than the standard exhaust manifold, aftermarket extracters flow no better unless the standard head is seriousally modified. I've done the trials with an LC XU-1 back in the 70'S.
on dyno street and track If they are warped they can be milled to fix at not much cost. They are a period item look good don't wear out and will match the flow of any thing you can find, in a street or mild comp application. Dave

I agree with David Anderson above, plus, they sound SOOOOOOO much better than extractors on a Holden 6 cyl...
