Central lockin

Does anyone know from prior experience whether the ordinary run of the mill central locking actuators that you by from autobarn/strathfield have enough oomph to work on a hq-wb locking mechanism?

Try "Track pro" its probably the best "basic" one, Ive had in my HR and Jackaroo for a while now and going well.

I thought the springs in the old holden locks where very tough so central locking is hard to do? How do you get around that?

Hello,
The springs in the Hq door locks as well as the Landrover are too strong for the average central locking kit. For these models the like to sting you around $300.
Your best bet is the genuine ones they had in the Wb's.
Or you can pull your springs out heat them up and take out some tension (do not recommend this unless you know what you are doing as you can weaken them too far or make them brittle and they break). Best of luck hope this helps.

Like it has been said hunt around for a genuine set out of a HJ Statesman onward. I have even had dramas with my old statesmen's hooking it up to the alarms, the solinoids are so strong you need a sperate relay and power, just to trigger them of the alarm. I have heard of people using 2 cheaper / lighter units on each door though, one pulling and one pushing, this might work for you, but you need 2 kits for a 4 door.

Thanks for your replies, figured i should give some more info, as the first post was pretty rushed.
it is going in a wb ute, and the kit is for 4 doors, so was thinking i might be able to hook up 2 actuators to each mechanism, not sure if it is possible though as i haven't checked for room/mounting points etc. I bought the kit for a later model car which i have since sold, and am currently doing up a wb ute, so figured i may as well put them to use in that, i might just give it a go with the 2 actuators if they fit, and if that doesn't work, i may just have to look for some genuine statesman actuators.

if its a ute put 2 in each door 1 up top near the lock and 1 down low put him upside down and reverse the polarity to his motor use the back 2 wire actuators 4 this ive done this easyly 1/2 a dozen times plus to my own ute over 8 years ago and mine has never once given trouble and ive never heard any wingers from those it did it 4 i used cheap purana kits the lasting of the remotes is another issue and an oil of the locking mech while you have the door trims off
