got it sorted

hey guys just like to say thanks to t and the other guys who gave me some very helpfull advice about my hz pano not charging ( charged up )
it ended up being the charge light globe
was blown
i should have checked it before i put the dash in
she is now charging at 13.2v with the lights on
so thanks once again

As Snow says, the voltage sounds low for an 85 amp alternator. Mostly they give around 14.5V at the alternator if it's a Bosch.

It depends on where the voltage is measured and the state of the connecting wires as covered in "Dim Lights".

For example a dash mounted voltmeter fed from a burned primary feed and/or burned alternator feed will mean that the voltage is not getting from the alternator to the car.

Any suspect earths should be replaced too.

WHEN you fitted the 85 amp alternator you also needed to replace the alternator charge wire from the alternator to the battery with a much much thicker/heavy duty one than the one that was originally there for the std alternator..otherwise it will only be able to take the same amount of amps as the std alternator so the 85 amp will just be the same as the std one and not being used to its full capacity .

no i havent replaced the wire from the b+ terminal on the alternator i might do that this weekend
and i have only been checking the voltage at the battery
will do some adjustments and post again
