HG with flat spot

Hello All,

Good 186 motor, recently overhauled, automatic trans, stock standard, Strommy carb, but with a real annoying flat spot and tendency to cut out just as truck appoaches when turning right....
Bought the carb reco'd off eBay, re-bushing was done, I feel like giving it a @#$%in' Mexican tune-up-- the pedal to the floor in neutral for a couple of minutes.
Better still, get input from y'all

Thanks
Rod

Please use, Holdenpaedia will get the first box on the left side. Post any suggestions.

As Snowdownunder says,

plus remove aircleaner and make sure the Accelerator Pump delivers fuel when you cycle the throttle.

When the Accelerator Pump Plunger gets old it doesn't deliverfuel any more.

What ignition do you have? Worn out breaker points will cause flat spots.

Any airleaks in the system.

Is the idle smooth? Low jet level causes flat spots too.

Check the vacuum advance unit on the distributor.
No vac advance can cause a flat spot.

Cheers, Jeff.

You can also do it the real bogan way, take aircleaner off start engine put left hand on top of the carby,(use hand to change the amount of air to carby), then use right hand to give it revs,so you are choking it.

This gives the carby a real clean out, really rought way to do it, but it normally works.

Also clean out your fuel pump
