Single barrel strom question

Hi all,
I hope this will make sense:
When the accelerator pump is activated and the plunger stroke reaches its limit and the jet of fuel has stopped shoting into the carb im finding there is still a way to go before what would be "foot flat to the floor" is achieved. This is how im getting a flat spot in accleretion I think. I've check all specs and the all seem to be with in the limits.

Any ideas?

thats normal. youll get around 3/4 throttle when the pump has reached its end.

whats the carby on, is it a stocker or had some work done?

have you tried the pump link in all 3 settings on the pump arm?

is it squirting a healthy stream of fuel or could the plunger be worn?

have'nt tried all 3 setting just the standard middle one. The stream of fuels nice and healthy. It all seems to be set normal then.
What its like is if you have your foot down at about 3/4 then slowly give it a bit more it dies...which makes sense if thats where the pumps reaching its end, but I thought it would just be smoother, its been a while since i drove it so maybe Im remembering wrong?

i didnt have a chance to get to it today, fixed a leaky thermostat housing then time disappeaered on me.

I did fine some some blackish residue tho had come out the exhaust yesterday- I thought that could suggest a too rich mixture?
