HR Disks

Wondering if anyone can give me some info on disks for my HR...

I have a HR pano and a sedan, have been rebuilding the pano and have stripped the sedan for parts.

The question is, I have two sets of disks and calipers. I was comparing them for the first time today, and found them to be different in a number of ways. The sedan ones are thinner in the disk, and haven't got as big an offset as the pano ones. The calipers are also different, the sedan's being smaller and have british patent numbers on the side, whereas the pano's are a bit chunkier and have Girlock cast on 'em.

I'm not sure which ones would be better to use, and if its possible to get parts for both types easily. Also, if its better to have the higher offset or not. If anyone knows anything, I would appreciate some info.

Love this site, and appreciate all the effort it takes to keep it running for us.

Al, You've got me stumped. All HR's with factory disc brakes have always had those British calipers on them (same as Austin 1800 MK1). I don't remember ever working on a panel van, so I DON'T know if they are different or your panno has had diferent brakes fitted. I've looked for my workshop manual but can't find it. I don't know were your located, but I do know a good brake guy on the gold coast, he does bonding, sleaving etc, i can give you his name and number if you like he's always answered my ?? You could also ask the guys from the HR holden national register, some of the guys have or have had Panno's.

Can you post a pic. I suspect that you may have a HR set of brakes and maybe a set off a HK-G. Are they twin piston calipers or single piston calipers of the van.
Paul.
