diff change in hr what 2 do

its come time to look at the diff in the old girl.im running a mild 186 with a 5 speed steel case and would like to know what would be a good choice of diff.i dont need a bat out of hell as this is now my daily driver.i think i will stay away from a ford nine as i read that they are quite a heavy diff.i have also read that a vn diif might be the go. it would be appreciated if any one can help out with what they are running and where i can get the job done. im in brissy

snowdownunder, do you mind explaining how you got HR 13 inch rims to fit a VL diff as obviously they don't normally considering the different stud pattern.
VB to VL are the same length and apparently fit in without too much trouble besides changing the mounts for coil to leaf spring mounts.
VN onwards need to be shortened. Phil Hutton 0415745703 does shortened VN onwards exchange units for $750 or $800 outright, but i'm not sure on his quality.
I have a VP shortened diff in my EH ute and they are good for 300 horsepower. I had mine done at Driveline Services at Brendale 3889 7366 as well as my tailshaft shortened and balanced there to suit. Great people and really great quality work even though a little more expensive. Maybe you can bargain a price with this info

I have a look at putting in a Borg Warner...much lighter than the 9-inch and can take anywhere up to ~400hp easily. I've done a lot of research on them for my own HR
