HR Aussie 4 speed

Hey all,
I have a HR with a 186 and an aussie 4 speed. The previous owner installed the four speed but we've noticed that there are rubber shims/spaces between the mount and the box? A guy was telling us that they woulda done this to clear the tunnel because they didnt cut out enough for the linkages? How much more needs to be cut to take these shims out? Is it entirely neccisary? Would it pass Roadworthy with the rubber shims/spacers? We were thinking it would vibrate alot as well.
Thanks alot in advance

Matt

On a slightly different subject ...

make sure the gearbox mount has the metal tag inside it. Sometimes
this gets removed or the wrong mount gets fitted. The metal tag
prevents excessive movement of the gearbox.

It was missing on my Aussie 4 and caused a failure because the
gearbox moved too much and the rear bearing got lunched.

Hey thanks for the comments guys. T, i'll have a look at that, thanks. And snowdownunder, i just had a look at the shims and both give about a total of 2.5mm gap between the crossmember and body, give or take. the angle of the tailshaft and yoke is pretty straight too. But like the shims arent rubber exactly.. theyre like umm heavy duty rubber? You know? Sorta like what truck mudflaps are made out of haha its hard to explain. So you think it'll pass roadworthy?
Cheers, Matt

How is your clutch activated? Have you kept the hydraulic
of changed it all to manual?

Any chance of an image or a shed?

I would be more worried about the hole in the floor where the shifter comes through. I discoverd the previous owner of mine cut through the floor brace and everything ! I now have it all nicely plated..
