get the 202 going again

im in trouble, can someone please help me,

yesterday the car went well not a prob at all and when i went out to start it this morning, it did not start, it turns over as normal but no kick.........

i finally found why, theres no spark coming out of the coil, ive replaced the coil but still no spark.

is it posible to run a wire strait from the battry to the postive side of the coil as a tempary fix to get it to a sparky

does the coil has continuous power or has polse power going to it

what else could something like this be?

thanx guys

Holdenpaedia, they're the brakes Mate.

To get yourself out of trouble you can run a wire from your battery to the coil. It needs to be on only whilst the car is cranking and running so i would sugest you loop it through the cabin to where you can reach and have a in line switch so you can control the powerflow. Be careful and dont leave it on or you will cook your coil. Check your ignition switch as i have seen quite a few where this is where the problem lied when bypassing it as described got the car running.

Replace your points and condenser. Gap your points properly. Also, I have had a few 202's where the earth lead from the ignition coil has come off and if it don't earth then it won't spark.
Check your fuses and get a test light onto the yellow ignition wire that supplies power to the coil to see if the coil is actually getting power or not.

Check dizzy cap for hairline crack, leads ( can be faulty), take off the dizzy cap crank the motor to check rotor turn if the spindle pin still intact also turn the rotor by hand to makes sure still intact.
I had problem with HQ wont start for few day, found out the dizzy shaft broke the pin by twisting the rotor that had to replaced.
