Pop quiz.
Im up to making the steering wheel turn the wheels :p
ive used the VN steering rack, and it has a splined connection, whereas the vk had a square slotted one.
At the base of the steering column, the VK uses a sleeve, whilst the VN used a spline. How do i remove the top section from the intermediate shaft (including the top uni).
Or is there another way ?
Cheers,
Scotty

was wondering what the biggest wheels i can get under my HZ are? Being a younger person i want wheels more like 17" rather than 14", but i want it to be a older look wheel as i do like the look of say the current 14" Crager SS fakes that are on it . I just want bigger rim, less tyre. Any suggestions? or where to shop ?

Hey Everybody,
Just finished rebuilding my 202 efi motor from a case of brokenis ringitis. But also have just fitted a Vk trimatic where the four-speed used to be(must be getting lazy I guess).I now find that even though in park or neutral the engine runs smooth ,as soon as I put it into gear it wants to stumble and stall if I dont get the revs up.I did just adjust the bands before the rebuild, could this be a part of it.Also I dont think the torque convertor was the original that was with the box.Any help would be great.
Cheers lots Nutos.

Hi all,
I've just cleaned and serviced the carb on the standard 186 and took it for a bit of a spin. It ran ok but did seem to bog/hit flat spots when accelarating in 1st and splutter a few times. I had just put fresh fuel in so apart from re cleaning the carb in case something got in there is there anything eles I could check? Would a too lean or rich mix cause this?
Thanks

G'day everybody, I’ve decided to replace my broken 2.78 diff gears for some 3.08's. Will there be much difference between these two? It was pulling 2500rpm at 100kph before, will 3.08 gears still keep it under 3000rpm? I’m wanting to give the Ute an easier time at take off but don’t want to sacrifice too much economy.

My HG Belmont ute is missing its badge from the passenger side of the cab, but there is no holes for the badge. The car had some panel repairs at some stage and I thought it had been deleted. The sales pictures of the day show utes with passenger side pillar badges but now I've found this on ebay.
"[http://cgi.ebay.com....|HG Belmont ute]"
Did some Belmont HG utes only come with the Drivers side Pillar badge???
Cheers

I need idea's as to what could have suddenly changed on my motor. I run LPG only, with on-dash vacuum gauge and air/fuel ratio display. For years and years this engine idles at 20" vacuum, yesterday it suddenly changed to just 14". Add to that the a/f ratio at idle leaned out substansialy.
Ok, so I filled the LPG tank the nite before, I have never seen fuel vary like this before, yet I am not convinced its the fuel. At full throttle the a/f ratio as spot on, all the power is there... She even idles smooth, like a sewing machine as normal.
If it wasn't for the vacuum gauge and a/f ratio display I would be none the wiser!
It sure sounds like a vacuum leak, but I can find none. I have removed all vacuum lines and connected a gauge directly to the manifold. Same, 14".
Checked for manifold leaks, can't hear any, everything is tight.
Using my large un-dampened vacc gauage, there is no jitter in the reading, so again it doesnt look like a leak around the manifold on one particular cylinder.
Checked timing, spot on at 12 degrees. Tried adv/retard, 12 degrees is still the best.
The only other thing a steady low idle reading indicates is worn rings yes? But how can things change so suddently?
I am anxious to expend this tank of fuel and try another source.
Any suggestions?

Anyone got a diagram of the hoses attached to the 253 VH Commodore Quadrajet carbs ? I've got one to fit to my red 253, and need to work out which of the myriad of connections I need to use for what.
Thanks

Hello again all.
Im thinking of starting a buy/sell/trade website specifically for HK-T-G & Q Monaros and Monaro parts.
It will be like a classifieds for anyone Australia wide that has or wants a Monaro or Monaro parts.
Ad's will be free to post and all ads will be monitored and checked before posting to prevent false listings.
There will also be tag info, history, a forum and restoration tips for the HK HT HG and HQ naro's. I may also add a gallery, where people can post a pic of their Monaro etc etc.
Does anyone think this is a good idea?
I come up with this idea because of how hard it is to find Monaros and parts without looking around the net and ebay for ages.
My aim is to have at least 10 cars + parts advertised at any one time. I think this is a decent goal as they are super rare items now :)
Tell me your honest thoughts.. I have thick skin.. hope that helps!
