HZ BRAKE BOOSTER

Does anyone have an info on a pbr brake master cylinder ( The aluminium one )
Regarding whether the cylindrical section between the flange and the power booster should have an O ring fitted into that recess as the master cylinder has recently been overhauled and a stainless steel sleave installed but there is brake fluid now leakin from between the flange of the master cylinder and the booster.Suspect fluid might be leaking between the body of the master cylinder and the new sleave.Bedal just about goes to the floor but no fluid leaking elsewhere. Can anyone shed some light.

Hey holden gurus, my Q-jet is giving me grief. I've just had a kit put thru it and now it idles faster then before (idle screw is right out - still fast) and it hates starting hot. Any thoughts?

I is real good smart I is. Anyone done this before??

This is so brilliant. Do yourself a favor and read this:

Just finished installing a relay for the electronic ignition i put in last week. Decided to hook up a kill switch to the negative earth of the relay while i was at it.

Was lookin for a place to hide the kill switch, somewhere non-obvious, easy to reach, and also wanted to avoid making a hole in the nice clean original dash.

Though about it for a bit. Then hit upon an idea.

Started by removing the ciggie lighter and the wires that were hooked up to it, then drilling a hole in the back of the lighter housing, and mounting the kill switch from the back (so that it pokes through to where the heater element of the lighter would normally sit).

It is a bit awkward to do and obviously the ciggie lighter wont work anymore, but when you put the lighter socket back it the kill switch is fully hidden from view. Not to mention it is in a spot that would normally have factory wires going to it anyway (so as not to draw attention to the kill switch by tracing back unusual wires).

The ciggie lighter plug had to be modified so it could fit around the part of the switch that you flick to operate it.
To operate the switch just remove the lighter plug, flick the switch, put the plug back, and off you go! Who the hell would think to look in there????

Another stealth trick i used was to position the relay box just above a small factory hole in the firewall, such that when the relay box is installed the factory hole is covered by the relay box.

By doing this it allows you to run the earth wire from the relay box, in through the factory hole in the firewall, to the kill switch, then back through the firewall, and then earth it by mounting it to the tek screw that holds the relay box to the firewall.

The trick is to position and then tape up the earth wire to make it look like it is earthed DIRECTLY to the tek screw (ie to obscure all the wires that go to the kill switch to make it look like there is no switch and nothing going to the firewall).

Trimatic Spigot Bush

Hey gang,

I've fitted a black EFI 202 into a HX ute. The EFI originally had a 5 speed box behind it so it had the spigot to suit the 5 speed. I'm going to put a trimatic behind it.

Is there any reason to bother getting a spigot to suit the trimatic or should I just take the 5 speed spigot out so the convertor can fit in and bolt up. Has anyone done this before.

Far as I can tell, cos the convertor moves with the flexplate there is no real need for a spigot.....

Whaddya think?

Cheers Darren

Exhaust Bolted or welded???

Hey
Exhaust system for my stock black 202 Vk Sedan.
i recently bought a set of extractors with a 2inch outlet, and a new 2 and 1/2 inch redback exhaust system i have got the sleeve so theirs very little play on each. but does this sytem have to be welded up or can it be bolted. its my first time at attempting something like this, i can get help from a mechaninc but if it needs to be welded i'll just pay him to do it properly. So can i just bolt it all up or is it a harder job than i think.
Cheers tom

Maxi Brakes locked up on my 1974 Bedford TK Help needed

I have recently bought an old Bedford truck and had it towed from Muswellbrook to Sydney. It had been sitting for a few weeks before we had it towed. When the car carrier arrived the back "maxi" brakes were locked on.

Although we now have the truck running we cannot get the brakes to release, we have tried runnung it for an hour to built up compression, using the emergency release and driving it forwards and backwards with the brakes locked. Nothing works, ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you.

VT Brakes in th HZ.

Image:

Fitting VT brakes the my HZ ute today, and come into some trouble, i have just thrown some new brake pads in th vt calipers with new slotted rotors also, but they seem fairly tight. doesnt seem like there is much clearance with the new disc's and pads. is this normal? anyone else come across this before? With the wheel on there i can just spin it over by hand. without the wheel and just the disc on there i can just turn it but its tight.

there doesnt seem to be any misalinement issues there at all. it all bolted up nice but when i went to slip to calie over the disc it was tight. even with em on the groud, and trying to put the new calie with pads on the new disc its not very easy at all!! and is still tight.

i havent taken it for a spin but i can garentee that they will get hot quickly, until the wear in i guess...........

any thoughts and sugestions would be great!

cheers
jason
