Maxi Brakes locked up on my 1974 Bedford TK Help needed

I have recently bought an old Bedford truck and had it towed from Muswellbrook to Sydney. It had been sitting for a few weeks before we had it towed. When the car carrier arrived the back "maxi" brakes were locked on.

Although we now have the truck running we cannot get the brakes to release, we have tried runnung it for an hour to built up compression, using the emergency release and driving it forwards and backwards with the brakes locked. Nothing works, ANY help would be appreciated. Thank you.

walky wheels on a hr

hey guys i've got an hr sedan and i'm wanting to put walkinshaw wheels on it i have changed the front disks to commodore an am about to change the back stubbies if anyone knows the offset of walkinshaw wheels an also if the wheels are gonna hit the guards or anything

VT Brakes in th HZ.

Fitting VT brakes the my HZ ute today, and come into some trouble, i have just thrown some new brake pads in th vt calipers with new slotted rotors also, but they seem fairly tight. doesnt seem like there is much clearance with the new disc's and pads. is this normal? anyone else come across this before? With the wheel on there i can just spin it over by hand. without the wheel and just the disc on there i can just turn it but its tight.

there doesnt seem to be any misalinement issues there at all. it all bolted up nice but when i went to slip to calie over the disc it was tight. even with em on the groud, and trying to put the new calie with pads on the new disc its not very easy at all!! and is still tight.

i havent taken it for a spin but i can garentee that they will get hot quickly, until the wear in i guess...........

any thoughts and sugestions would be great!

dizzy question

has anyone used a procomp ignition before. it the type with the coil built into the top of the cap. only got 2 wires that go into it one for tacho and the other for battery. any help great

efi black 202 stroker

i ive benn on this site asking about supercharging n what not, but i was wondering if anyone knows about stroking, the thing is i know boring out 60 thou will make it a 208 stroker. putting a 221 ford crank cut n [Naughty Pottyword] will make it a 235 stroker but what i want to know is the other options, i heard of a guy boring his out to a 3.8 which is a 286 i think, plus there is a guy talking about his brothers vk on this form and its like a 255 or something like that, i would like to know four things
1,what con you do?
2,how much would it cost?

help

hi all, just a question for the resident pros... my engine runs like a bucket of [Naughty Pottyword], can get it to idle, in fact it was running very well for a few days but now no amount of fiddling will help. at the moment it will idle quite well (not perfect) but rev it up to 2000 rpm and it dies back to idle or stalls. i have had 3 carbies on it, the one on it now (600 holley) was running fine on my mates 308; the ignition is brand new HEI with a full 12 volts feeding it, the cam timing is fine, been triple checked, it doesnt seem to be blowing any smoke, it only has extractors on and we would have noticed that haha. the cam is a crow part no. 5666. there is no obvious vac leaks. someone help me im ready to dump this donk in the river, its all rebuilt albeit sitting around for a while.

ball joints

Think my left hand ball joints knackered as a lovely ol lady in a white buzz box desided that a stop sign mean (dont look but go) this morning.
Hit the brakes and horn extremely hard and she thought that that ment stop..
dont recon i could have put an envelope between my bumper and her front door (i even left vertical bite marks on my seat((think about it))
The front left wheel felt like it just grabbed and the clunk was full on so by my thinking i would say ball joint .

Question to arsewipe ( John )

I seen a reply from you to a transmission thread. It looks like you seem to know what your talking about.
I have a problem with my trimatic, I had it repaired a little while ago with a new clutch drum & some clutch's fitted.
The problem is it doesnt always change back into 1st gear when you stop.
You can be sitting at a set of lights & it will take off in second.
But it will go into 1st if you manually go through the gears .
Have you or anyone got any ideas what the problem might be?
It has new oil & is at correct level.

hq hj hx brakes on ht

hi guys looking for some 1 who has put hq brakes on a ht ? ive been told left hj stub axle must go on the right side and vice versa for turning cleance and ive been told 1 of the break caliper will be up side down and if so is this a problem? i need some help with this 1 ,i just got this break set up and want 2 change it,are hq hj hx hz all the same or different? please help

It's good to own a different car, feels great to drive compared to the old vk:)
Any decent mods to get a bit more grunt out of it, i think it's all stock, and don't want to spend big was thinking more on manifold injectors,exhaust,dizzy, may be chip.

Block it off?

Just Read a post here. Always looking for a free gain of power from a motor, but read the PCV Stuff on Holdenpedia and found some info that makes me all confused.

The pedia says it can be a (guessing basic not so functional) lube system aswell (opening parragraph).

I've got a under bonnet setup aswell, so I guess blocking the pipes (or moving them) will not harm the uppers.

My question, is there anyone who says I shouldn't block or move it and why? Is there really a power gain of any kind? Will it help to keep from pinging (which I do have at times, but for no real apparent reason. It comes and goes.).

Original Post is Head Question

If I go for the move, I will prob block the inlet up, take the pipe from the rocket cover and run it down to the back of the ute and let it out some place near the exhaust (could even pump it into the exhaust after the mufler).

If I go for block, I'd just cut the tubing, get a bolt and screw it into the pipe.

If I block it up, should I do both the air filter and the rear, or just the rear?

Another Block I can do is to block it up with a switch like the heater setup. I can open it when it's cold to help the engine warm, and close it after it's warm. Haven't a photo of that switch but take a look under your hood or in the manual and you'll know what I mean.

Oh, and also, There is ALOT of leak in the front and rear hole, if there was gas in there, it's gonna come out. I could stick a 1mm thick nail down the hole while the piping was still in the hole. If I get reasoning to not block it up, then I will need to get some good heat resistant glue or somthing to make it a bit more tight fit.

8.5Kg gas bottle Question

Hey Guys, gotta GAS question, this time about your average BBQ gas bottle.

Label on the side says 8.5kg.
I assume thats the max weight of gas carried when full.
But i think its getting close to empty, but i dont know what an empty gas bottle of that size weighs!

Currently my bottle weights 11.2kg.

How close am i to empty?

67 HR whining noise

Hi all,
I've a 67 Premier and I've noticed a constant whining noise that seems to come from just under the front seats and becomes progressively louder at higher speeds. I assume its the diff, but if anyone is at all familiar with this problem and what to do to rectify it, I'd greatly appreciate you input.

R.I.P. (I mean ROT IN HELL)

There was a fatal crash last night...My flamin' puter !!!
I lost everything, The whole damned lot :-/
I've dragged this dinosour outa my mates scrap heap to access the net for now and Pam's just gone to town to order a new super dooper puter for me but that'll take a week or so to arrive i should think.
My outlook express was my memory bank/storage cabinet and sadly thats gone for good.
My main concern right now is that last night just before CRUNCH time, I recieved an email from a "Steven" who was asking for additional pics of my GTS Guards that's for sale in my shed...Steven, if your reading this, please resend an email and put your phone number in it too, that way i can give you a bell.
I cannot do any pics on this puter anyway so pics'll have to wait till i get the new puter. Backup disc, what's that? lol.
I'm yet to see how this thing goes with sending emails. Dont send me any with attachments either please as they prolly wont get opened as it's too bloody slow a proccess. Any other unfinished buisenness with any of you will have to remain so, at least for now. BUGGER !!!
