can the rubber gearbox mount on a celica 5 wear out without being broken i mean lose its stiffness

converting 202 to 308 WTB tailshaft to suit t400

Been working on my project for a while now its a Hq prem.Bought a stato caprice dropped in the t400 box and red 308 from the stato into my hq. got rid of the column and put the stato shifter in. used stato diff, springs etc..but find that the tailshaft is a bit longer for for my sedan. cant find a tailshaft to suit the t400 box anywhere.can any1 help me or does any1 have one they willing to sell.really wanna get this thing on the road. will post some pics once shes all finished.any help will be great.

186S ..for sucker??

Is this a 186S...or does the S stand for sucker?

Got sold a 186S today, but has serial number 186P185493. Research shows this actually appears to be a 186 high compression from ?HK, HT, HR. Next.. the head has "L" cast in it, suggesting a low comp head. Rocker gear is adjustable.
Is this likely to be a dud, a combination of bits, or a 186S with an unusual combination of "features"? I am keeping an open mind and wouldn't want to accuse the friendly wrecker who sold it of ripping me off.

Any one know how to identify a steel crank out of a 186S?

Does a VK EFI 3.3 Dizzy and coil work in a red motor 186?

Will it fit straight in and work with no major mods like the blue motor dizzy/coil and can/should it be regraphed for a daily driver?

MONARO GEARBOXES

HEY People!

I'm new to this site and was after a bit of advice as far as transmisions go for my hq coupe recently purchased. it will have a 308 based motor built for it, possibly a stroker, i am yet to weigh up the options. i have heard that m21 boxes are as weak as piss and am reluctant to use one because of their reputation. i am not gonna throw much abuse at the car, its just gonna be a mild engine (hopefully around 300hp at the flywheel) with good street manners, but i wanna be able to stand on it occasionally with out breaking it! how much hp/torque can these withstand generally and can they be built tough (what would be the costs involved?). i am considering a ford (for shame) toploader box conversion, as they are a good unit with a hurst shifter fitted and a tough as nails. also in consideration are muncies, saginaws, and some other supra and jap boxes. any thoughts, oppinions and advice would be much appricated!

HZ Ute

Hey guys Rick Here I have a question. Changed Heidi's shifter yesterday and got her to move thru the gears whilst i checked everything out underneath We all know that when the M20 shifters get a bit worn they are a bugger to get the gears in if you have not had much to do with them. Poor old heidi couldn,t get it into neutral and was getting so frustrated she was actually crying, so this got me thinking...

Aircon in HR Ute??

Hi holden experts, wonderin if anyone knows whats involved with putting aircon in my HR ute with red202 motor.
Can i put commodore aircon/compressor
is it a resonable ask or way too difficult

temp sender and commodore vs kingswood stud pattern

Gday guys and girls

I have two qestions here. Hope thats not too rude asking two questions in one thing.
Firstly, I have a 5L injected commodore motor in my WB ute, and am needing to change the temp sender so that it matches the GTS gauges in the ute. But im buggered if I can find the little bugger. I thought it would be near the thermo housing, but cant see it there. Any hints on where it is?
Secondly, I know this is a touchy subject, so I'll tread lightly :)
I have a commodore diff in the arse end of the ute (disc brakes) and the rims are for the older style kingswod pattern and offeset, BUT, Im told that the studs and hub etc have been changed to accept the rim properly (as I know that they fit, but not 100% safely), is there any quick way to tell that the hub is a commodoe style or kingswood one just to make sure?

reco grey motor

did any one go to the swap meet in ballarat?? my legs are still aching
can see why most people had bikes
got way over to the other side and announcement (left my bloody lights on)got a few bargains but as the castle says "tell him hes dreaming"
anyway seen a reco gray motor for about $500 is that about all thier worth or is that cheap???(i know a reco red is about $1100 chance over)

Wanted HT-HG dash facia

Hi all,

I am looking for a dash facia for my HT Monaro.

I don't require any gauges but just the facia. I am after the Premier/Monaro one with the two main instruments and the two smaller ones on the side.

I don't need it to be perfect but in good enough condition to be reconditioned.

Seats Out Of A VN/VP

Ok i went to pick and payless on sunday to get a set of seats for my torana. first off the wreckers had no manual toranas to take parts from. i found a set of seats out of a vn or vp executive type model they were perfect 80 buks each dont know if thats good or not but hey they will fit. i got them home and cleaned them only to notice when i sit in the drivers side seat the back will fall down if u rock it a bit. Id like to know if this is a common problem with these seats. And is it repairable?? i stripped it down cant seem to see any way of tightning it. is it even posible i dont wanna have to trow the seat out coz i just spent 80 buks on the bastard. And would be a huge help if any1 knows of any1 wrecking a manual UC torana in NSW. as i am converting my column shift auto to floor shift manual if any1 has any suggestions on how this should be done any what would be a strong box but still cheapish...... CLEAN OUT ALL CHEAP

I just put the statto front on the pa nno, So Im left with a hz kingswood nosecone, radiator support pannel, kingswood grill,H4 headlights and loom,V* dizzy and leadd with red coil, and a few other knick knacs that have to go, so if anyones interested let ne know?
Oh yeah Ive also got a Statesman drivers side mirror with cable etc , Rear vision morror and a set of LE Honeycombe rims, stock kigswood dash facia and guages , cluster and steering wheel, all in pretty good nick!!

308 - Broken

Hey All , Yellow VH here!
For some magical reason my computer is working today. So i figured it would be a good opportunity to get some more help with my motor
A good freind of mine posted a pic of the pistons in my 308 that was untill recently in the torana
They were 327 pistons I think, with hemi 6 cyl rods, thanks everyone for the info. i still owe someone beer too :P
Now I have a new problem tho. we ripped the 253 out of the VH, and after much fuss and a half stripped LC we finally got the 308 out and dropped that into the VH. All is sweet. But the suspect knocking sound was still there. At first we thought it was the oil pump which I swapped and made no difference, one thing I noticed was the guts of the oil filter were sucked through itself!???
Also, I found dark copper coloured filings in the sump, Im told it will be big end bearings
There was no drop in power but the actual knock was unbearable and so loud my mate a block away could hear it.
I think it started after willowbank, on the way home the oil pressure dropped like all hell, and after i topped it up with some crappy oil and drove it home, I guess the damage started. it took about a week (oil pressure problems all week, but not much oil consumption) then finally started hammering the next weekend. so now I just wont drive it (mental images of rod poking out the side of the block.)
Sound familiar.... we are considering takin it back out this week, givin it a freshen up and while im at it might get the lumpiest cam i can get.
