Rear disk brakes on HR

Me again

I'm thinking of putting rear disc brakes on the ute too... I'm trying to decide to whether to put VK rear disk brakes onto a banjo diff (as documented on a website somewhere I've seen) or just throw in Volvo diff with the brakes already on it... any comments/thoughts/recommendations?

Does anyone know if I do use a volvo diff, can I use HR rims to clear the discs, or do I have to run volvo rims?

Cheers,
hrmad

Blue head on red six

Hey everyone

Just planning my HR ute project - I'm going to run straight LPG and was thinking of putting a blue head on the red 186... my question is can I use 186S headers and a VK injection manifold together on the blue head? Or do I need to run a set of blue headers/extractors?

cheers,
hrmad

Wheels for the QE

I know this is most likely a stupid question, but are all holden rims the same stud pattern or do some differ from others. I have a 74 HQ, would most modern Holden rims fit on it or is it not this simple???

Somebody Help!!

I was wondering what new or newish seats I can fit into the QE, also can I fit a more modern dash in the old girl and if so how hard would this be to do??? I also want to put Whitewall tyres on her, does anyone no the best place to buy them as well as nice rims to suit the tyres in the Melbourne area??

"wobbly speedo's"

Image:

there have been a few posting queries about speedos that 'play up'. this photo is of a speedo that jumps around at low speeds and i have fixed it by making some small adjustments to counteract wear that has occured over the years. I will try to explain the best i can. In basic terms, the speedo cable drives part 'B' which you can see spins around part 'C'(connected to the needle), there is also a magnet that is connected to 'B' that sits inside part 'C', and is lined up with the metal prongs, as it spins part 'B' pulls part 'C' (which is sprung loaded to return to zero) with it giving you a speed reading--- the speedo cable is not really connected to the needle, it kinda works like a tourque convertor in an auto, IE: one drives the other. Now what happens is that everything rides on the thin shafts 'A' and after 30 odd years , it wears out and causes the mechanisms to rub against each other giving the 'grabbing effect' of the needle jumping up and down, you can ever so slightly and very carefully bend the prongs out to stop them rubbing on the hub (which i have done with this one)-- but not too much as this will effect the reading of the speedo, and that should solve the problem for another extended period of years. sometimes you can get away with packing out the speedo cable with a washer to lift the magnet off the hub, but this doesn't always work.I hope this may help someone, cheers, john

Wndscreens

Fellas have a problem with my pano. I need a [Naughty Pottyword]en rear demister in order to put a 308 in it. Must be to see the tyre smoke behind me or somethin [Naughty Pottyword] I dunno but anyway was thinking that there might be some metal strips that can be stuck straight on. Is this dreaming or possible? any help on this would be appreciated or any good connections in the Qld area would be good as well.
