Driving a high-stall as a daily driver?

Hello,

As mentioned in my previous post, I am currently looking into getting my 308 rebuilt. At the moment not to sure which direction to take, as ultimately I will be going straight gas, a few conversion centers are trying to sway me from a performance build, to something a little more mild as apparently flat top pistons and the like are a little harsh with straight gas.

Anyway, the real question here is what do people think of high stall convertors in a daily driver? The engine package I am tinkering with consists of L34 Heads, Flat Top Pistons, and a 286 Cam which obviously requires the use of a 2500rpm stally or maybe 2200rpm stally.

Help

I am just wondering how many other people have this problem and if it is something you just put up with cause you love your old holden? or any suggestions of how you overcame this problem. Ok the story goes my WB was running standard manifolds and exhaust when first purchased and use to run like a dream, since then i have put on a set of extractors and 2 1/2" sports exhaust, and the damn thing even if you warm it up for 5 or so minutes stalls at every intersection for the first 15 minutes of driving, Please i need as many suggestions and stories as i can to try and help as i live in the city and stops at intersections and traffic lights is unavoidable, as it is my daily driver and i love it i cannot bring myself to get rid of it, should i put the old manifolds back on (dont really want to do this as extractors and new exhaust were not cheap)

Wiring Conversion for Injected 5 litre into EH

Anybody have extended knowledge on wiring conversions for Holden Injected 5 litre into an EH?

I am aware of both Castle Auto Electrics and Pat Gardiner's V6 Conversions however they are pricey and I am keen to do the conversion myself. Basically, I would like wiring diagrams from someone who has already done the conversion. I don't think it is rocket science but it is obviously more complicated than the standard EH loom.

I am also running the VN (pre-electronic) TH700 tranny and diff.

Anyone out there got a few ideas to set me on the straight and narrow?

Celica 5spd into EH

I have a celica box with a holden 6 bellhousing that was apparently on a kingswood. What clutch plate should i get, beacuse the clutch (which is worn out) looks like a holden one but has the celica size spline. Also what do i do about the speedo cable?
Cheers Callum

Dristributor Problems

G'Day every1
I have a 74 HQ Prem with a 308 red in it i renewed the points, condenser, cap, rotor button and plugs and took it to my mates who had the timing light the distributor was out 180* so fixed that but he dropped the pin that holds down the distributor and becoming dusk i didn't see it gone when i started tightening it up so having no pin holding the distributor down the car ran like a dog. He then thought it must be the mixes on the carb, he started playing with them and then it was back firering then an all mighty bang he blow the muffler apart and because he was going on a cruse he said that sounds mad leave it like that and he drove off!!! Anyway the next day i had a good look at the distributor and noticed the pin gone got another 1 from pop put it in got new muffler ($20 young's)and set the mixers on 1 1 /2.

my HG project

This is how my HG should look in a few weeks... minus the GTS caps, plus its got GTS guards, and its been lowered a bit, it's being painted picardy red. I dont know yet as to how im gonna go about making a black recessed grill, i got the idea from the 68 r/t comaro. i got editing in ms paint with a picture from an old holden sales brochure and came up with that, i think it looks pretty tuff considering.

Spark plugs

Hey fellas, i was looking towards getting sum more power out of my 253. I have already done a bit of work to it, and want to give it sum more power without head work.
I was thinking about buying a good set of spark plugs. I have electronic ignition but i am still runnin standard plugs, will i benefit greatly from buying a really good set? i know they can cost over a 100 bucks, would it be worth it? much power increase?
Thx guys

HK subframe

Hi All
I'm having my first go at restoring a car and I'm lucky enough for it to be a HK ute. I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a manual/website or provide information on how I can go about removing the front end as I need to replace the right, outer, subframe member due to a slight rust problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Just Unbelievable - Avoid Felix

Well after after 10 months I finally recieved my Ek from the workshop, about 4 weeks back. I took down my pride and joy, freshly spray-painted 9inch (complete)and a modified HR V8 strengthened front end with rack n pinion. The task was to fit the new 9inch (already fitted with commodore discs) replace the HR disc front end with the V8 strengthened front. Change the brakes(rotor/caliper)from HZ vented to commodore (HZ existing on the HR V8 front) upgrade the booster to run all 4 wheel disc and relocate booster to behind the guard. Replace the tailshaft accordingly to suit 4speed to 9inch.Run new brake lines to rear to have rear disc functioning. Suit steering coloumn to rack-n-pinon with rod and knuckle system to remove huge steering box. Somewhat a big task but only parts left to source were booster and steering components.

My wiring's a mess!

I stumbled across this site for the first time tonight! I have been restoring a 69 Monaro and the d@#-head who I bought it off has stuffed most of the wiring up trying to conceal wires etc. Does anyone know of an aftermarket wiring loom kit available for a '69 HT?

I'm Baaaack!!

G'day peoples.....

I'm back from my little soujorn around the western ½ of the country in the VY SSute...excellent trip, but 6 weeks wasn't long enough :-(

I see some new names here....hope all the old contributers are still around too.

Now, I just have to go through the 1500 or so E-mails that I seem to have collected while away, update my virus definitions and I'll be back properly....until Wednesday next week when I go back to work...bugger.

There were a few weird and wonderful sights along the way...a new room in my shed may be in order!

Can anyone send me a synopsis of the last 6 weeks on oldholden??

WHAT THE!

Good evening fellas! I currently have an EJ manual sedan (previously posted a pic of her on here). Tonight when I got home as per usual I parked her sweetly away into my garage where she got ready for bed, but as I put her into neutral and pulled the hand brake and released the clutch (don't know what came first it all happened so fast) i heard a "bing" and this massive spring came flying at me feet! Dont know where it came from or what it does, Ive already had a look, couldnt find anything? and all the pedals and everything works as normal? Can anyone offer suggestions etc? The spring is about 5cm long / 1cm wide and has 2 hooks at either end! Can anyone help!? :)
