Old cast holden wheels

Hi all holden fiends,

ok, I have found a set of old cast wheels in my mates shed, the name is MOYA supposedly.
He also has another set that are cast, and have HEAD MOD cast in them.

Both wheels have cast centres, and alloy or maybe steel outer rims, with a ring of bolts o nthe edge of the centre section to attach it to the rim.

the MOYA ones are 13inch diameter, the rims on the rears are 10.5" wide!

Does anyone know the history of these wheels and does any one know where i can get a set of rear rims, that are 8 inches wide?

The stud pattern is early holden, they are going on his EH holden soon as he gets the correct rims.

Want Bench Seat Mod

Hey yal,

I'm looking to buy a bench seat for my EH, however I want to have one of those leavers like the new bucket seats to lay the seat down for a full length of my car (steering wheel to back). I realise they didn't make these in the 60's so any I'll need to make one. If anyone has seen one done can ya let me know, or if you've got one for sale, or can make one for me to buy.

Many thanks,
-Bree

dare i say idling problems????

Hi all,

Yes, yes, i know this dang question gets posted all the frigin' time but ive had a search through past posts and cant find an answer. Basically, she is dieing whenever i come to a stop at lights and stop signs. I've tried turning the idle up on the stromberg about a quarter of a turn and it didnt fix it. If i turn it up anymore its way too high for an idle anyway. The engine is not pinging at all under load, its a 4 speed manual and im happy with the speed range im getting through the gears.
It is strange if im not moving i can start it and it idles forever at good idle revs not gagging or anything but as soon as im moving and go to stop it just dies. Even if it died at the lights say, and turned it over without moving at all it idles no problems.

FUEL TANK INTO HJ VAN ????

Am looking at putting a sedan fuel tank in to a HJ Van. Have tried a HZ Statesman one but it is about 10mm to wide and hits on the leaf springs. Anyone know if sedan tanks are the same size as statesmans tanks. Any one got any other ideas for what tank to use. Torana maybe ????. Where is the filler tube on toranas.

Question Rusty

Image:

someone asked for some info on 'how to'
I have scanned my college text book and am prepared to submit a section in my shed with the whole 2 volumes in appropriate sections.
It contains everything that the non mechanic would need to know starting from 'this is a spanner and this is a nut'
Now the question is ; how many people would want this ,and, would posting this be a violation of copyright laws?
given that I would correctly site the authors, or would we need their permission?

New Gearbox options

Hey,
Got an HJ 308 ute dual fuel with a mild crow cam, no one seems to be able to figure out what the gearbox is, i'm pretty sure its got straight cut gears, its got no seal on the input(pisses out gear oil on hills) and is generally nasty, even after I had it rebuilt last year, all I know is its a really old GM. So I am going to bite the bullet and replace it, would love to put a 5 speed in but I don't really want to spend over $1000 and I want something that is going to handle the hp, the engine would have been 240bhp stock, don't know what it is now with the new cam. If I can't get a 5 speed what is the best option? recon M21? The transmission place that is doing me some qoutes reckons that V8 M20 boxs would be fine...I'm not really keen on this. What are the Muncie boxs that were on the 350's like? would the different ratios not be ideal? any ideas on rough costs?

Colapsable column???

G'day fellow Holden lovers,
I am considering putting a colapseable steering column, with column shift auto in the FB. Wondering if anyone knows anythingabout it.
Does a Torana Column & rack fit?
Would a L300 setup be better?
Could you do it yourself or is it a Rod Hatfield job?
Any idea on price?
Does anyone want a FB worm & wheel setup?
Thanks for your time and consideration
Cameron

Mag wheels HQ-HZ

Sorry if this is a commonly asked question but are there any mag wheels (not including centerline, dragway, weld etc.) that are made new for other vehicles that would CORRECTLY fit HQ-HZ holdens.

If that made no sense, do any new cars have the exact same offset as the HQ-HZ.

If there isn't, is there any good places in S.A. to find decent second hand mags to suit my HZ Kingswood.

Thankyou for your help

Ben

Streetneat on Brisbane Extra

Got to watch a special Streetneat presentation on Brisbane Extra tonight, only 5 minutes or so but it was well worth every minute to see Mr and Mrs Streetneat and their famous Miss Lead. As well as to hear a bit about them and their past. Not that it is necessarily exciting to the Streetneat clan but congratulations and thanks for making yourselves available for some interesting tv! ;)

On a side note I might try and get the tape digitised, maybe we can throw it up somewhere for everyone to watch ;)

Brakes

Greetings All.

Got a bit of a dilemma. I am currently shoehorning an injected 5 litre into an EH and I am currently working out my braking requirements, both in terms of performance and general issues such as wheel offsets with different rotors etc.

The rears are sorted. I will be using VN with VN calipers (sourced from donor vehicle.)

On the fronts, I am running Hadfield drop spindles but I am unsure which rotors to run. I have run HQ ventilated fronts on another project, but I have been told that Leyland P76 rotors on the same stub axles offer an additional 5/8" (approx 16mm.) negative offset in comparison to HQ which is ideal for running cars low without front guard scrubbing and clearance issues. I also believe a bearing spacer and seal kit is required for running the P76 rotors and Hadfield has these for $125 per kit.
