308 Engine Number

Could anybody tell me where the engine number is printed on a 308? I had a quick look and couldn't find it. Thanks in advance.

Replacing a 1990 Holden Commodore Executive VN cam belt

Can anyone tell me, in simple terms, how to change the cam belt on my 1990 Holden Commodore VN 6 cylinder Wagon? It appears that only one component needs to be loosened to allow for taking off the old belt and that is what I am interested in knowing.

Many thanks

Rear wheel noise

G'day -
This week I've noticed an unusual noise, when I reverse, I get a squeek coming from my drivers side rear wheel. Seems to occur once every wheen rotation or close to one rotation.
Do you think this could be from the drum?
Cheers,
El.

Product recommendation

Hey all, just thought I would let you all know that I bought a tube of autosol metal polish for $9.95 and this is the best stuff I have ever used by a long shot for restoring old metal parts. Used the stuff on my old dragways today and they came up almost as good as new, removed all the surface rust and I can see myself in the metal (a bit at least:)) gonna do another rub down tommorow to see how much better I can get them but just had to tell you all about it so hopefully if anyone is after a similar product they can know what to buy.

Cheers
Lazarus

i dislike smoke

Today me and my mate took off my old rocker cover, and did the valve stem seals as they were completely rooted and on startup my car would piss smoke out the exhaust. We did everything like it should have been done, replaced gasket etc. Put on a new rocker cover and some funky chrome T-bar rocker bolts. Upon startup it started smoking out the exhaust which is to be expected. Unfortunately its still doing it upon startup. Its definately oil because the smoke is white. It did get black smoke but we fixed that (tweakage of the carby). Anyone got any ideas as to how this oil is getting burned apart from piston rings which it cant be because its only on startup. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers for your time..

help - no oil pressure

can anyone out there help me please I'm having a bad day. I've just rebuilt a black motor and put it in my old hq. The tappets are rattling like mad and are not getting any oil up through the pushrods. I've tried 2 oil pumps and checked all the specs. I've taken the sender unit out and cranked the motor and oil came out. The lifters are new, and I primed them. When I take out either oil pump, the pump and filter are full of oil. But still no supply to the lifters and tappets. The plug was installed in the end of the oil gelley - I checked during assembly. Any ideas, or any similar experiences? I'm desperate.
