HZ Front End Update

Just a big thankyou to the guys who replied to my question about front end springs.
Well its all just about done now!!
No dramas except for passenger side lower control arm bushes. The steel bolt spacer that runs through the rubber mount had worn through the bushes and into the actual control arm!! Scary stuff. Anyway managed to get another second hand one for $20.
So the whole lot's done. All new bushes, ball joints, shocks, tie rod ends idler arm, that other long thing with the cast in "ball joints" (sorry cant remember what it's called)
Just waiting for the new sway bar links to turn up (one was missing) Will also pick up my rebuilt calipers and machined discs.

Free Seats

I've still got those HQ bucket seats to give away.(What happened to Toongabbie Rob?)
They are ripped but with a retrim they would be awesome low back buckets for an old cruiser. They are still very firm and comfy.

I'm in Sydney, my number is 0402 403 866. Come and get em, or I'm chuckin em soon.

wheel sizes

i've asked this question once before but i didn't get much from it

I know it can be done because of adam lebrese's eh i need to know how to put 17 inch wheels on an eh with a hr front end i know you could probably do it if you got 30-35 series tyres i had been told but i was thinking more of 40-45 series and how to change the wheel arches because they have to be big but 16's i'm sure would be fine but no less than that and with possibly a nine inch diff.

any help would be appreciated because last time all i got was negetive answers

HQ Monaro

Today i was at the BP with my friends for our daily dose of red bull, and my friend (matt) almost died of a Heart attack, (by the way he is a ford fan) and as i looked up i saw this 'Grape Purple' HQ GTS Monaro Coupe, now this being my favourite car in the world (better than any lamborgini) you could imagine my reaction, i stood in front of it and gazed at it for 10 minutes before the owner came out to the car, i was asking the specs were, he said "it has a 350 chev with a 1050 cfm carby on top, high compression forged pistons, 5 spd celica gearbox (i thought they only came on red motors), 9" Ford LSD and dual 4" Exhast" (not in that order i had to ask questions to get that info) and best of all there was no Bonnet scoop (although i wonder how with than mostrous sucker under it), so anyway we said goodbye and he drove of with the most best sounding engine ever, if you have ever heard a HSV GTS Sedan at high revs, think of that times by about 5 and thats how good it sounded. the only problem was that it had a HX Nose cone. but that was still alright. the reason im excited about this car is because i live in mackay and if anyone lives here you would understand about the amount of crappy cars and how rare it is to actaully view a good car. anyway thanx for reading my excitement of the day.

Gen 3 Piston Slap

Hi
Firstly I know this isnt an old Holden question, But I own 3 Old Holdens 2 FJs and an EJ, And I am Registered on this site (EJDAVE) but am at work and dont know my password.
So I Bought in Late January a used VX SS with 100,000 Km on the clock. I got the norm. 3 months warrenty. I have just noticed with it being still 6000 km to the next service, its used more oil than my old Grey motored FJ uses in a year! about 3/4 down on the dip stick. Also on initial start up it ticks more than my watch. I know ive got the old Piston Slap condition. What Im wondering, has anyone has this fixed under used vehicle warranty. Do they still warrant it? Do they usually cover the lot or just pay for some of a rebuild?

Varable Varijets?

Greetings all.

Are any of you experts on varijets?
Seems i didnt know that Varijets errr varied over time.

With my new motor im getting put in my HT its a red 186 with a blue head, and blue manifold to fit a varijet.

i.e. 2 holes, small primary and slightly larger secondary.

But the carby i got, also a varijet, has an extra hole, supposedly for idle choke airflow or something. only a small hole about 5-6mm in diameter.

But the carby and manifold definately are not compatible.

How many variations of the varijet was there?
when did the change occur?

As far as solutions go we are proly going to get the manifold swapped over, or a spacer put in if thats not a go.

Best way to remove oily crud from underside of my EH!

Morning lads

Well I want to get the chassis fitted to my EH sedan next time I'm down in Hobart. Before that happens however, I've got to remove all of the oil and accumulated road dirt from its underside (the old 202 had a bit of a problem holding onto its fluids!). What I want to know is, what's the best method? I've thought about a pressure cleaner, steam cleaner, [Naughty Pottyword]loads of paint stripper etc... once its clean I'm going to whack plenty of sound deadener on and paint it and then get the CRS chassis bolted and welded up.

All thoughts appreciated, I'm not trying to come up with an elite level undercarriage here, just a clean one that keeps the noise levels down!
