Help required.

hi guys. i am only new to this site so please bear with me. firstly. i want make my fb into a convertible and would like some advice on what is required engineering wise. also, can i keep it 4 door. i notice that someone has a convertible on the site, so any help from them would be great. i also need help in locating a suitable engine. i was thinking of using a 138 red motor. any suggestions?

SUPRA 5 SPEED

Hi All, I am attempting to become a member, but... No luck yet as the system doesnt seem to work and I have no answer as yet via email. Anyways, here is my question.
I am building another Holden, this time she is a HQ-HZ one tonner. It has a HQ chassis and a HX-HZ cab (it is a bitzer welded together) etc etc etc.. Hence the HQ-HZ tag. I have VERY HEALTHY 308 ready to drop in. It is a brock B headed, Brock intake, with 10:1 comp, extractors and a healthy exhaust yet to come. Id imagine that 300HP would be achieved, but, torque is the problem for a trans. I have sourced a heap of parts and currently have a W55 supra box and kit to install. Im worried though, as I have broken one of these behind a 308 before. I hear that most people break 2nd on a downshift? Very wierd as torque is irrelevent here!

door bolt

hey guys, I have a bit of a problem with my door...The moveable plate that the bolts screw into the thread in that is stripped, I dont know if you can get it out does anyone know? it seems there is no way to get sccess to the plate, i was thinking maybe drill it out and tap a new thread or sumthin, any ideas?
any suggestions would be great, thanks, maka

V8 manifold bolts...

CALLING QUTE...CALLING QUTE...COME IN QUTE...
G'day Dave or anyone else who can help me, I was wondering if you would know much about the correct way of loosening and tightening the inlet manifold bolts on a V8.
I have a Max Ellery's book which tells me the sequences. But how do I know which bolt is number 1 and so on?? Flippin' stupid book with only half the required info.
I'm changing my lifters tomorrow so it's kinda urgent, otherwise I'll just have to wing it.

Springs

Giday all,A mate of mine has asked me on lowering the rear spring on his HZ ute.
I told him I didnt have a clue but thought I could drop the question in here and hope that somebody has done this and could leave a good blow by blow desription on how we do it.
His front springs are lowered and I think he wants to drop the aft end of his V8 ute down as well.

the best engine??

I'm doin up a te gemini and i am still undecided on an engine. i want a turbo engine but dont know engines. i want something i could practically bolt straight in ( and not a diesel), any info would be good.

need sum help wid pre-ignition

Hey all,
prolly sick of me askin for help, but i need to know what causes my car to pre-ignite.
It has jus been tuned and is runnin the best it ever has but it still pre-ignites...... what could be causiin this? is it tru that it could be the spark plugs?

jets 4 webber on 202

i`ve scored a webber of a xf falcon and fitted it to my 202 blue motor but are having trouble getting it to run. it`s a brand new carb and seems to be flooding. dose anyone know what size jets i should be using, or have any idea what the problem could be. I would have thought it would have at least run with the jets that are in it!

Front End

Hey guys, I just had a crash in my HR and the entire front end is destroyed. I am getting $12,000 payed out for insurance am am looking at buying the wreck off of the insurance company and fixong it back up. It was an X2 so I know I won't be able to find another one.
I got a qoute from a mate of my old mans the other day and he said he could do the whole thing for $8,000. This includes all the parts, putting a disc brake front end in, removing all the little bits of rust, dings, scratches on the whole car, welding in metal plates where rust is removed, putting in a new radiator, water pump, 120A alternator. Basically it'll come back in pristine condition, no rust scratches nothing, and it'll be dead straight. He's said he's even going to close up the gaps between the panels so they are very small if u know what I mean.

Carb Upgrade for 308

Ive got a 308, it has twin extractors and has got a bigger cam in it. Now ive got the standard Rochester Carb on it, but ive also got a holley 650 double pumper sitting in the garage. Just wondering is it worth putting on the holley over the rochester, is it an upgrade. Reason im thinking about it is because i need a new intake manifold, and thought about getting a new carby, also what sort of price do good performance manifolds go for, like edelbrock etc

argh! im cursed!

im gettin the feeling im cursed...

So the new motor has gone back for the seocnd time to get the jetts fixed as its now running far to rich despite extensive attempts at tuning it.
Tomorrow its a new fuelpump and another attempt at a proper tune.
(fuelpump leaking oil)

And just yesterday i found that the fueltank which was flushed and replaced leaks fuel somewhere into the cabin when its allmost full.
Not fun being stunk out :(

p.s. its not comming from the engine area, nor the exhaust. its a very raw fuel smell.

I probably didnt discover this earlier as i was driving around on half tanks of fuel.

Blower Kits

Hey everyone

With all the talk about the CRS blower kits... I was wondering if anyone has used or investigated the other blowers that are available. Ie. The TerraCharger from Yella Terra, Sprintex Superchargers, or the various kits from CAPA.

I know the CRS kits was a bolt on application... do the others offer the same setup? Or do you just get a blower and then have to make up the mounts and manifolds?
